The Clerk-Recorder Department is hiring for an enthusiastic Administrative Assistant III to join our small-but-mighty team. Our team is dedicated to serving the public by providing timely processing, transparent procedures, and exceptional customer service. An ideal candidate for this role has experience working in customer service, an office environment, and/or performing detailed work with frequent interruptions.

What You’ll Do

Every day brings something new. You might:

Help couples obtain and register marriage licenses.
Assist families with birth and death certificates.
Support property owners in recording or obtaining official records.
Participate in voter registration, candidate filing, and election support.
Provide friendly, professional customer service both in person and over the phone.
Juggle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Depending on experience, you could play a key role in both Clerk-Recorder and Elections functions.

Education and Experience

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. certificate at the time of employment. AND Either A: One year of experience performing duties comparable to an Administrative Assistant II. Or B: Three years of experience performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative assistant duties including word-processing/computer experience.

Licenses and Certificates

Certain positions within this classification may require driving. When driving is an essential function of the position, a valid CALIFORNIA driver's license will be required at the time of appointment.

Pension Benefit and Employee Contribution Rates:
The County's pension is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension payment for life based on your time in service, wages, and other factors. The County is the primary contributor to the pension fund, but the health of the pension fund also depends on mandatory employee contributions. Employees are required to pay a percentage of their base pay towards the pension fund, ranging from 5% to 19%. This amount is deducted from your paycheck pre-tax every pay period. Healthcare Benefits and Cafeteria Contributions:
The County offers comprehensive medical coverage to you and your family, along with two dental plan options and vision coverage. All permanent employees receive a monthly employer contribution (or ‘cafeteria’ contribution) to help them pay for their portion of the medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums. The amount of the cafeteria contribution varies by Bargaining Unit (BU) and the extent to which employees enroll their dependents. If the cafeteria amount is greater than your selected premiums, the remainder of the cafeteria is paid out to you in your paycheck as taxable income. If the cafeteria amount is less than your monthly premiums, you pay the remainder of the premiums with pre-tax wages.
