Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are a small local 100% gluten free and organic scratch restaurant. Tucked away on the 101 in Leucadia, we are just a stones throw away from the beach. Don't let the looks deceive you, we are busy from open till close 7 days a week. We pride ourselves in our ability to serve quality food, made with purpose, and we don't settle for less.

We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team and oversee daily kitchen operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring food quality, managing staff, controlling inventory, and maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about food service management, possesses strong leadership skills, and has experience working in fast-paced restaurant settings. Your goal will be to deliver exceptional dining experiences while optimizing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards.
Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
Oversee food safety practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations and proper food handling procedures.
Lead staff training initiatives to develop culinary skills, improve team performance, and ensure consistent service delivery.
Coordinate shift management by assigning tasks, supervising staff, and ensuring smooth service flow during busy hours.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and participate in interviewing prospective team members to build a strong hospitality team.
Bi-Lingual or at least a basic understanding of Spanish for communication
Minimum 5 day work week, and more if needed
Weekends required

Qualifications

Proven experience in food service management or restaurant management, preferably with casual dining or quick service environments.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train staff effectively.
Basic math skills for cash handling, budgeting, and profit/loss analysis.
Demonstrated ability to manage inventory control and oversee food production processes.
Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with team members and ensure high customer service standards.

No late nights - Restaurant closes at 7pm on week days and 8pm on weekends.

This is a fast paced and extremely busy restaurant, be prepared to work the kitchen line or in the prep kitchen. It takes a team to run this restaurnant, must be able to balance ordering and scheduling while making sure the team is always supported. This is not an office focused position.
