Hill Country Christian School San Marcos is a vibrant, Spirit-filled Christian school in San Marcos, Texas, serving approximately 225 students in grades PreK through 12. Our school is a close-knit community where students and staff actively demonstrate the love of Jesus in their daily school life. We are deeply committed to academic excellence grounded in a biblical worldview, and we seek to develop the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.
We currently work a 4 day week which results in a shorter work year than a typical school schedule.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Principal serves as a vital spiritual and operational partner to the Principal at Hill Country Christian School San Marcos (HCCS). This role carries the mission — “We steward the discovery and growth of every child” — into the daily rhythms of campus life, stepping into pastoral care, instructional support, student formation, and campus operations. The Assistant Principal is often the first point of care for students navigating discipline, struggle, or breakthrough, and approaches every interaction as a discipleship opportunity.
This position supports the Principal in building a campus culture where faith and learning are woven together, families are genuine partners, and every child is known, loved, and launched toward the future God has designed for them. The Assistant Principal operates in alignment with ACSI and ICAA standards and the Texas Principal Evaluation Rubric.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Active, growing Christian faith with a clear testimony and a lifestyle consistent with biblical standards (ACSI/ICAA requirement)
- Full agreement with HCCS’s Statement of Faith and alignment with its spiritual vision and culture
- Texas teaching certificate preferred; administrator certification preferred or actively in progress
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Educational Leadership preferred
- Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in a Christian school setting
- Experience in student leadership, instructional coaching, campus operations, or pastoral care
- Commitment to HCCS’s mastery-based, student-centered, solutionary learning philosophy

- Support the Principal in maintaining a discipleship culture where faith and learning are woven through every aspect of campus life
- Assist in leading chapel services, worship experiences, and spiritual formation programming
- Provide Spirit-sensitive pastoral care to students — particularly in moments of discipline, crisis, and personal breakthrough
- Reinforce HCCS’s Portrait of a Graduate across daily campus life and student interactions
- Help sustain the culture of knowing students personally and supporting their growth by participating in end-of-year teacher handoff processes
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT

- Assist in classroom observations and provide timely, encouraging, and growth-oriented instructional feedback to teachers
- Support the implementation of HCCS’s mastery-based and solutionary learning frameworks under the direction of the Principal
- Help coordinate curriculum implementation and Christian worldview integration across grade levels
- Assist with student achievement monitoring, academic intervention coordination, and school improvement documentation
- Support gateway milestone processes and ensure students are coached toward demonstration-ready mastery
- Coordinate academic, social/emotional/behavioral and attendance supports to ensure every child’s needs are met.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for student behavioral concerns, restorative practices, and discipline — always pursuing root-cause resolution and transformation over punishment
- Maintain behavior and self-regulation systems aligned with HCCS’s Spirit-governed self-control framework: “What does the Holy Spirit say? What does the Word say?”
- Build ongoing, trust-based relationships with students that provide safety, accountability, and a deep sense of belonging
- Ensure that campus behavioral culture reflects HCCS values — discipline that invites growth, not shame
- Assist in coordinating extracurricular activities and campus events that reinforce mission and community
HUMAN CAPITAL SUPPORT

- Assist in staff onboarding, classroom setup, and day-to-day support for teachers and support staff
- Help facilitate staff meetings, professional development sessions, and PLC gatherings

FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

- Serve as a warm, consistent point of contact for families navigating student concerns, discipline, or questions about campus life
- Assist in planning and executing family engagement events, Parent-Teacher Community activities, and volunteer coordination
- Communicate proactively and compassionately with families regarding student progress, formation milestones, and campus culture
- Represent the HCCS vision to families and reinforce that parents are true partners in the mission, not passive consumers
OPERATIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

- Manage daily campus operations in coordination with the Principal: scheduling, student supervision, attendance, and facility safety
- Assist with emergency drills, crisis response protocols, and real-time family communication during incidents
- Ensure compliance with background check procedures, child-protection protocols, and Texas health and safety regulations
- Support campus budget tracking, supply management, and resource allocation as directed by the Principal
- Assist with campus reporting, record-keeping, and documentation required for ACSI/ICAA accreditation
- Coordinate volunteer activities, special events, and extracurricular program logistics
This position is aligned with ACSI’s Administrative Standards, ICAA Accreditation Criteria, and the Texas Education Agency’s Principal Evaluation Rubric (Domains 1–5). Employment is contingent upon demonstrated Christian faith, agreement with the HCCS Statement of Faith, and background clearance in accordance with Texas law.
Compensation & Benefits
