Full Job Description

Welcome to The Freelance Firm!

We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.

Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Southern California Family Law Attorney.

Remote work hours will vary, but are expected to be approximately 10–20 hours per week, with the potential to transition into a full-time opportunity.

Attorney Responsibilities:

Handle family law matters, including dissolution of marriage, child custody, child support, spousal support, and domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) cases
Conduct paid client consultations and provide legal guidance
Draft motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, and other family law documents
Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy
Attend court hearings, depositions, trials, and client meetings as needed
Communicate with clients throughout the representation process
Manage cases from intake through resolution, if retained by the client

Attorney Requirements:

Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of California
Located in Southern California and available for in-person court appearances and client meetings as needed
Minimum of 2+ years of California family law experience
Experience handling dissolution of marriage, child custody, child support, spousal support, and DVRO matters
Experience with court appearances, legal drafting, research, depositions, and trial preparation
Strong communication, client consultation, and relationship-building skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple matters efficiently
Self-starter who can work independently
Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a plus, but not required

Opportunity Highlights:

Potential to grow from 10–20 hours per week to a full-time caseload
Strong potential to transition into a full-time W-2 position based on performance

Our Attorney pay rate starts at $80/hour.
