Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance, driving strategic financial planning and ensuring adherence to industry standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Your expertise will support our mission to maintain transparent, accurate, and timely financial information that informs decision-making and promotes sustainable growth. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a talented finance team within a mission-driven organization, emphasizing non-profit and governmental accounting practices.

Duties

Corporate Finance, Controlling & Accounting: Own accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger, ensuring accurate and compliant postings · Execute and monitor payment runs, including payroll and statutory payments · Lead cash management and liquidity planning, including regular cash-flow forecasting · Prepare monthly management reports, financial analyses and forecasts · Prepare and coordinate monthly and annual financial statements with external tax advisors · Review and approve financial postings in SAP and PMS · Support management in P&L planning, forecasting and performance tracking · Track and report overall financial KPIs (e.g. cash flow predictability, net income...)
Customer & Project Finance: · Act as the primary finance contact for customers’ finance departments · Ensure smooth invoicing, payment follow-ups, and dispute resolution · Proactively manage collections, overdue balances, and cash acceleration · Support contract and supplementary offer reviews from a financial and payment-risk perspective · Prepare and issue customer invoices aligned with contractual milestones · Create and maintain project and contract data in SAP and PMS · Maintain supplementary agreements, change orders, and add-ons in PMS · Verify payment schedules based on project milestones and deliverables· Monitor project financial performance (revenue, costs, margins) versus plan · Track billing milestones vs. project delivery timelines · Work closely with Project Managers and Delivery Teams to ensure timely billing, prevent revenue leakage and identify risks related to delays or scope changes · Provide early financial alerts on delays, cost overruns, or margin risks · Analyze project and customer profitability · Identify opportunities to improve gross margins and reduce cost leakage · Optimize billing and payment structures · Support pricing and commercial decisions with financial impact analysis · Track and report project-realted KPIs (e.g. margins, days sales outstanding...)
Payroll: · Payroll: Submission of working hours and commissions, as well as approval of the General Ledger (G/L) Breakdown in QBooks. · System administration for Insperity. · Management and monitoring of the travel expense reimbursement processes. · Maintenance of employee master data in the relevant systems (Insperity). · Support and execution of onboarding processes. · Conducting background checks for new employees. · Further processing of HR-related documents (e.g., bonus agreements, annual compensation plans, role changes, and salary changes) in the context of payroll. · Annual review of policies, contracts, and benefits in connection with payroll. · Support of HR processes on the EPG platform EPS.US (with a focus on onboarding and payroll) in coordination with the HR headquarters.
Admin & Local Operations Support: · Handle regulatory registrations and correspondence with public authorities · Manage administrative and organizational matters of the branch office · Coordinate maintenance, service appointments and office operations · Support visa-related and administrative processes when required

Qualification:

· Successfully completed bachelor's in financial business studies or similar

· And at least 2 years of professional experience in a similar position

· Alternatively, a completed master’s degree in financial business studies or similar

Professional requirements

· Strong foundation in financial accounting

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting

· Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA, PMS) and document management systems (e.g., DocuWare)

· Knowledge of tax regulations, compliance, and administrative processes

· Comfortable with online banking and treasury-related activities

· Very good command of English (spoken, written, and presentation skills)
