CNC Swiss Set-Up Technician
Aerospace Precision Machining

With over 50 years of machining experience, we tackle the most demanding technical challenges across CNC Lathe, CNC Swiss, CNC Mill, and Multispindle Davenport equipment. Position Summary
We're seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Set-Up Technician to set up, program, and run Swiss-type lathes producing tight-tolerance, high-precision components for aerospace applications. This role requires a sharp eye for detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot complex multi-axis setups independently.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC Swiss-type lathes (e.g., Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or similar) for production runs
Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss machining operations, including live tooling and sub-spindle work
Select and install proper tooling, guide bushings, collets, and work-holding for each job
Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T to determine machining sequence and process
Set and adjust offsets, verify first-article parts, and make in-process adjustments to hold tight tolerances
Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators)
Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, finish, and dimensional issues to keep production running smoothly
Optimize cycle times and processes without compromising part quality
Maintain accurate setup sheets, program documentation, and revision records
Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior operators as needed

Qualifications

5+ years of CNC Swiss machining experience, including hands-on set-up
Strong understanding of Swiss-turning principles (guide bushing vs. bushingless, sub-spindle operations, live tooling)
Proficiency in G-code/M-code programming; CAM software experience a plus
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100 experience a plus)
Skilled with precision measuring tools; CMM experience a plus
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under tight tolerances
High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
