Line Cook – Smash Burger Kitchen

Third Window Brewing Company - Carpinteria

Position Summary

Third Window Brewing is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This position is responsible for executing our smash burger-focused menu with consistency, speed, and attention to detail while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and hospitality.

The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume environment, works efficiently on a flat-top grill, takes pride in producing great food, and understands that every burger leaving the window represents the Third Window guest experience.

We are looking for individuals who value teamwork, accountability, communication, and a strong sense of urgency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Grill & Food Execution

Prepare and cook smash burgers according to established recipes and standards.
Operate and maintain a high-volume flat-top grill during service.
Properly smash, season, cook, and assemble burgers with consistency and attention to detail.
Prepare and cook additional menu items including fries, sandwiches, and seasonal specials.
Ensure all food is cooked, assembled, and presented consistently and according to company standards.
Maintain ticket times and production flow during busy service periods.
Monitor food quality and immediately address any issues before food reaches guests.
Follow portion control and recipe specifications to ensure consistency and cost control.

Prep & Station Management

Complete daily prep tasks including portioning proteins, slicing vegetables, preparing sauces, and stocking stations.
Set up and break down stations for service.
Maintain proper labeling, dating, storage, and rotation of food products.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to kitchen leadership.
Receive and properly store deliveries when needed.

Kitchen Operations

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout the shift.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing duties as assigned.
Properly clean grills, fryers, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas.
Support dishwashing and general cleaning responsibilities when necessary.

Teamwork & Hospitality

Communicate clearly and effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
Work collaboratively to ensure smooth service and positive guest experiences.
Respond professionally to coaching and feedback.
Maintain a positive attitude during high-volume service periods.
Support fellow team members whenever needed.

QualificationsRequired

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask while maintaining quality and consistency.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.

Preferred

Previous experience as a line cook, grill cook, burger cook, or short-order cook.
Experience working on flat-top grills and fryer stations.
California Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Experience in high-volume counter-service or brewery restaurant environments.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Frequently bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull.
Work safely around hot grills, fryers, and kitchen equipment.
Tolerate exposure to heat, smoke, and fast-paced kitchen conditions.
