Full Job Description

Esperanza Shelter is seeking an experienced Director of Counseling Services to oversee our counseling programs and provide clinical supervision to licensed staff. As our Director of Counseling Services, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of trauma-informed services while managing our therapeutic programs.

Position: Director of Counseling Services

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico

Supervisors: VP of Client Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Counseling Services is responsible for providing oversight of counseling, support groups, and the supervision of licensed staff, ensuring that services are trauma-informed and delivered in alignment with agency standards, funding requirements, and best practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works collaboratively with the VP of Client Services, Leadership Team, and employees to educate staff on best practices for providing trauma-informed services.
Oversees and manages the psychoeducational group program and curriculum.
Provides counseling supervision to employees and interns.
Monitors program activities to ensure alignment with proposed services, that objectives are met, and that staff remain on track to meet program goals.
Provides and conducts ongoing training and support for employees.
Develops and maintains community partnerships and contributes to community consultations and/or collaborations.
Identifies best practices and ensures staff remains in compliance, ensuring services and programs are implemented in accordance with city, state, federal, public, and private contract and funding source requirements, goals, objectives, outcomes, and practices.
Analyzes participant satisfaction and program effectiveness.
Participates in organizational meetings, as well as educational and training opportunities.
Conducts participant intake and assessments, as needed.
Provides individual therapy sessions to assigned participants as needed.
Oversees the implementation of daily operating procedures, safety protocols, and administrative functions for the counseling team.
Ensures staff provide ethical and professional services to all clients at all times.
Performs other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience totaling six to eight years.
Must possess a valid, current, and active New Mexico license as an LMSW, LMHC, LISW, or LPCC.
In addition to the above, three to five years of progressive mid- to senior-level management and supervisory experience are required, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
