What You’ll Do (General Responsibilities)

As our Housing Coordinator, you will administer a variety of homeless prevention, rapid rehousing, and scattered-site rental assistance programs to promote long-term housing stability, financial security, and overall well-being for families and individuals in Santa Fe and surrounding counties.

Your daily impact will include:

Client Advocacy & Case Management: Conduct intake interviews, assess housing barriers, and collaboratively design strength-based goal plans that empower clients toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
Funding & Rental Coordination: Manage rapid rehousing funds, coordinate rental assistance contracts, and prepare check requests for accounting with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Landlord & Community Relations: Serve as a bridge between landlords, property managers, and tenants. Provide mediation, navigate lease agreements, and advocate to secure safe housing.
Housing Inspections: Coordinate and conduct HQS (Housing Quality Standards) and NSPIRE inspections to ensure all client homes are safe and compliant.
Data, Files & Compliance: Maintain meticulously organized, up-to-date client files and a consistent, easy-to-navigate filing system; input accurate, timely data into HMIS and other funder databases; and produce clear written case notes and documentation to ensure federal, state, and local compliance and audit readiness.

What You Bring to the Table

We provide excellent on-the-job training, but we are looking for someone who brings a mix of organization, empathy, and practical skills:

The Core Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
A minimum of two years in homeless services or housing programs is preferred, but we welcome candidates with strong transferrable skills.
A strong belief in the "Housing First" philosophy and a conviction that people have the capacity to grow and change.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills—including clear, professional written documentation and correspondence, active listening, and mediation.
Exceptional organizational skills: proven ability to keep detailed files, records, and documentation orderly and current, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain a reliable, well-structured filing system (paper and digital).
Solid basic math and budgeting skills to assist clients with personal budgets and manage check requests.
Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office and learning databases (like HMIS).
A valid New Mexico driver’s license, auto insurance, and willingness for light in-state travel.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred!

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Ability to sit for extended periods, work with a computer monitor (VDT), and lift up to 20 pounds.
This is an in-person, on-site role in beautiful Santa Fe, NM.
