College and Career Readiness Bureau:
Our Mission
The College and Career Readiness Bureau (CCRB) of the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is dedicated to providing New Mexico students with an educational foundation that takes them from primary school through secondary and postsecondary studies. This foundation encourages exploration and achievement in academic, career and technical education.

Integrating academic and work-ready skills prepares our students for the rigorous demands of college and careers. New Mexico¿s economic development directly depends on the educational development of our students. Our bureau provides leadership for the state's college and career readiness system.

Our programs prepare students to enter the workforce with the academic and technical skills needed to be successful in the job market. College and career readiness is the unifying force in P-20 education that propels students from a solid foundation of early and secondary learning into rigorous career and technical education programs and college completion goals.
Why does the job exist?

The purpose of the position is to provide management in the implementation of the Public Education Department's College and Career Readiness Initiatives. Funded initiatives support multiple options for students including both state and federal funding in excess of $60 million dollars. The Manager oversees a team of educational administrators (college and career coaches) and a
financial analyst specialist in order to guide the work of the bureau. The manager provides vision, leadership, oversight, and technical assistance with the whole bureau team to high school and community college programs. The Deputy Director is responsible for translating high-quality framework into action through oversight of staff, budget actions, monitoring visits, and technical assistance. This position is highly accountable for documenting and evaluating program outcomes and maintaining and analyzing statewide metrics for CCRB programs. The successful candidate will bring leadership/supervision experience and will know how to manage both people and programs including the use of key performance metrics aligned to the Agency strategic plan and the Yazzie and Martinez consolidated lawsuit.
How does it get done?

1. Provide leadership for initiatives.
As a member of the College and Career Readiness leadership team, the Manager has duties including:

Build and Maintain relationships among stakeholders, including educators and administrators, business and industry representatives, governmental agency representatives, legislators, and the public.
Provide effective and mission focused professional development and technical assistance, with ongoing integration of Career- Technical Education.
Translate the vision of high quality, equitable programs into intermediate program landmarks and measurable goals and outcomes. Proactively identify problems and develop solutions before crises arise.
Support a culture of positive growth and continuous improvement and institutional leadership in both the College and Career readiness team and the broader PED agency.

2. Provide staff management for the College and Career Readiness Bureau.

Develop staff capabilities, including annual goal setting, career discussions, skill development, and teamwork, with a focus on building and maintaining high-quality programs.
Staff oversight includes award applications, procurement processes, compliance with state and federal regulations, and subgrantee monitoring.
Provide continuous management of staff to drive for results. Hold team members accountable and provide coaching and technical assistance to ensure staff are focused on mission and outcomes.

3. Provide program management for CTE initiatives.

Develop and implement program plans for multiple programs, including assigning responsibilities, providing timelines, and establishing key metrics, with a focus on building and maintaining high quality, rigorous, and relevant programs.
Provide program management through a strong working knowledge of Career Technical Education, quality programs of study, high-quality curricula, and industry aligned credentials. Use program knowledge to support the economic and business needs of local communities and incentivize best practices.
Provide technical assistance to staff, program directors, and other stakeholders regarding using data to evaluate program outcomes.
Strategically implement federal and state requirements for funding allocations and staff resources to promote best practices and continuous program improvement.

Commerce.
Ideal Candidate

The Manager is responsible for programs that serve three main constituencies:
1. K-12 Educational Agencies, including learners, teachers, and administrators
2. Institutions of Higher Education, especially community colleges and apprenticeship programs
3. Businesses and Industry, through direct relationships, governmental partners (especially via the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act), and community intermediates such as Chambers of

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
