Full Job Description

Position Summary
The Junior Accountant is an entry-level position responsible for providing support to the Accounting Department by handling general accounting tasks daily to ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements of Main Street Produce and its affiliates. This position reports directly to the Controller.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with monthly closing entries
Bank reconciliations
Account reconciliations
General ledger maintenance
Assist with budgets, including crop budgets and cooler operations budget
Cost accounting, including crop costing
Assist with year-end financials
Weekly, quarterly, annual payroll tax returns
Assist with business insurance renewal schedules
Specialized reports as requested by Management
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Controller

Qualifications

Minimum: Associate's degree in business administration or accounting,
Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting a plus
Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel spreadsheets is required, including formulas, pivot tables, and charts
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Spanish a plus
Experience with Famous ERP software a plus

Essential Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee must be able to regularly communicate in person, via email, and by phone. The role may occasionally require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting objects up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient to read and prepare detailed financial documents and data is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
