Bookkeeper - Real Estate
Vine Street Properties is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and reliable Bookkeeper / Property Management Accounting Assistant to support our real estate and property management operations. This role is focused on accurate bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, owner/vendor/tenant accounting support, bank reconciliations, and maintaining clean financial records across our managed properties.
The ideal candidate has experience with QuickBooks, strong Excel skills, knowledge of AP/AR, and prior experience in real estate, property management, or a related accounting environment. Experience with property management software is strongly preferred, but we are also open to someone who is capable and willing to learn new systems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks for Vine Street Properties and/or managed properties.
- Enter and categorize transactions accurately in QuickBooks and other accounting platforms.
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor bills, contractor invoices, owner-paid expenses, and recurring property expenses.
- Manage accounts receivable, including rent payments, tenant charges, reimbursements, late fees, and owner/client billing.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, trust/management accounts, and property-related ledgers.
- Assist with monthly owner statements, reports, and property-level accounting records.
- Track vendor invoices, tenant balances, utility reimbursements, CAM charges, and other property management expenses.
- Maintain accurate digital records of bills, receipts, invoices, payments, and supporting documents.
- Assist with preparing financial reports and summaries as needed.
- Support tax preparation by keeping records organized and providing documentation to ownership, clients, or accountants when requested.
- Help ensure accounting records are accurate, current, and easy to review.
- Use or learn property management software to support tenant ledgers, owner statements, rent rolls, maintenance charges, and related accounting workflows.
- Communicate professionally with owners, vendors, tenants, and internal team members regarding accounting-related questions.
Required Experience and Skills
- Prior bookkeeping experience required.
- Experience with QuickBooks required.
- Prior experience in real estate, property management, or a related field required.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to use property management software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple properties, accounts, vendors, and deadlines.
- Comfortable reviewing ledgers, invoices, statements, and account balances.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial, client, tenant, and company information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with property management accounting software.
- Familiarity with tenant ledgers, owner statements, rent rolls, security deposits, CAM charges, reimbursements, and vendor billing.
- Experience preparing monthly reports or financial summaries.
- Experience working with residential or commercial property management accounts.
- Payroll experience is a plus, but not required unless otherwise assigned.

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
