Full Job Description

Position Summary:
The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flexographic or digital presses used in the production of high-quality wine labels. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining color accuracy and print consistency to meet customer expectations and company quality standards.

Job Summary & Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate printing presses to produce wine labels according to job specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Review work orders, proofs, and specifications to ensure accuracy of materials, colors, and layouts before production.
Mix inks, monitor color matching, and perform press checks to maintain consistent quality throughout production runs.
Inspect printed materials for defects such as registration issues, color variations, or imperfections, and make necessary adjustments.
Maintain press cleanliness and perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.
Track production data, waste, and materials usage in accordance with company reporting requirements.
Collaborate with prepress, finishing, and quality control teams to ensure smooth workflow and on-time order completion.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical training in printing or graphic arts preferred.
2+ years of experience operating printing presses (flexographic, offset, or digital), preferably in a label or packaging environment.
Working knowledge of ink systems, substrates, and color management.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot press or print quality issues.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods during production shifts.
Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience printing pressure-sensitive labels or on specialty substrates (e.g., textured or metallic papers).
Familiarity with Esko, HP Indigo, Mark Andy, or similar press systems.
Knowledge of wine industry branding or premium label aesthetics is a plus.
