Lead Demolition Foreman

Company: EBD

Location: Albany, NY (including regular travel throughout Upstate New York and surrounding areas)

Pay Range: $29.00 to $35.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, weekends as needed

Company Overview

EBD is a 38 year old specialty construction services firm with offices in Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo. EBD provides specialized contracting services - including selective demolition, abatement, wrecking, remediation, concrete cutting/coring, shoring/dismantlement - to general contractors, industrial clients, and commercial facility owners across Upstate New York and surrounding areas.

EBD provides employees with a positive, welcoming, and safe work environment, supported by continuous training on safety and professional development that surpasses industry standards.

Position Summary

EBD is seeking an experienced, high-performing Lead Demolition Foreman to oversee daily and weekly field operations, direct job site crews, and ensure strict adherence to project plans and safety protocols. In this role, you will take hands-on leadership of field staff during the performance of demolition, abatement, and other specialty trade operations.

The ideal candidate possesses deep specialty contracting industry knowledge, strong blueprint reading abilities, and exceptional communication skills to effectively interface with crews, clients, and building owners. You will be responsible for planning staffing, equipment, and supply needs, managing field safety, maintaining quality control, and holding personnel accountable to company standards on every job site.

Responsibilities

Field Operations and Leadership

Lead and supervise EBD field crews on active project sites during all phases of demolition, saw cutting, rigging, torch cutting, shoring, heavy equipment operation, and concrete busting/removal.
Plan and schedule staffing, equipment, materials, and job supplies on a daily and weekly basis to meet project deadlines and operational targets.
Identify, mentor, and develop field personnel for advancement within the company.
Address performance and conduct issues directly and professionally in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Safety and Compliance

Enforce total safety compliance on every job site without exception, adhering strictly to OSHA standards and company policies.
Conduct daily safety briefings (toolbox talks), job hazard analyses (JHAs), and equipment inspections.
Ensure all team members properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a hazard-free work area.

Communication and Job Site Coordination

Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications to plan and execute demolition sequencing safely and accurately.
Maintain strong, clear, and proactive communication with field staff, client representatives, project managers, general contractors, and vendors.
Coordinate site logistics, equipment deliveries, and vendor service schedules to avoid operational downtime.
Report daily job site progress, crew hours, and operational performance to company leadership.

Required Qualifications

Blueprint Interpretation: Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting structural, architectural, and demolition blueprints and project specifications.
Specialty Industry Knowledge: Significant industry experience and technical knowledge within specialty contracting scopes, including selective demolition, concrete cutting, core drilling, shoring, or structural alterations.
Resource & Operational Planning: Proven ability to plan and manage staffing, heavy equipment, tools, and job supplies on both a daily and weekly basis.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, general contractors, clients, inspectors, and vendors.
Safety Expertise: Strong safety knowledge and a proven track record of enforcing job site safety protocols.
Certifications: OSHA 10 certification required (OSHA 30 preferred).
Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights, perform heavy physical labor, and lift at least 50 lbs.
Licensing & Mobility: Valid driver’s license with a dependable vehicle and willingness to travel regularly throughout Upstate and Western New York.

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory Experience: 3+ years of direct field leadership experience managing crews in selective demolition or specialty construction trades.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with rigging, torch cutting, shoring, concrete saw cutting/busting, and heavy equipment operation.
Certifications: OSHA 30 certification.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale: $29.00 to $35.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, overtime/weekends as needed)
