Job Description: Service/ Drain Technician
Position Description Summary: The primary functions of the technician to be trained and proficient in drain cleaning and pipe inspection services, work on equipment, vehicle and building maintenance and repairs. Technician may also be trained for, Cured in Place Pipe Lining, septic tank service, grease trap pumping, and Jet-Vac related jobs.
Position Qualifications:Technician must be goal oriented self- starting and energetic. This individual must be willing to pursue and actually participate in continuing education.

License/Certification:Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Observes and operates within applicable traffic laws.
- Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Performs all functions in accordance with operations and safety guidelines.
- Performs an inspection of the exterior of the truck to ensure safe working conditions; including fuel and oil levels before leaving work location.
- Performs pre and post trip inspections and reports to the dispatcher any cargo or equipment that is inoperable, missing, or loaded improperly.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and /or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, and TSC standards and guidelines.
- Maintains accurate logs and records.
- Ensures that equipment is maintained, kept clean and free of debris or safety hazards in accordance with Draintech operating guidelines.
- Safely operates the truck to pick up and/or deliver cargo, as assigned by dispatcher.
- Regular attendance required.
- Report safety hazards.
- Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage.
- Wears appropriate PPE as outlined in the Company’s policy/guidelines.
- Complies with all Draintech safety policies, procedures and rules.
- Refuses any unsafe task or operation.
- Participates in safety meetings and training.
- Consistently aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers, and their surroundings.

Required Experience
- Valid Drivers license
- Clean driving record to include: no DUI’s within past 5 years, no more than 2 moving violations, and no more than 1 accident within past 3 years.
- 6 months of driving experience in a comparable vehicle.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Must be confident in his/her abilities. Must believe in him/her self and the company. Must believe in the company Mission Statement and the Service technician’s work must reflect this belief. Must be able to work with inspectors, suppliers and co-worker technicians to get the job done correctly and in the best interest of our customers, while abiding by all codes. Must be able to draw simple riser diagrams and be able to read them.
Physical:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Body Positions:Regularly requires sitting, walking, bending, lifting and digging for prolonged periods of time.
Body Movements:The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands feet and fingers to handle or feel objects and use tools and equipment and must be capable of bending, reaching, crouching, climbing and crawling.
Body Senses:Must have command of all five senses sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone for long periods of time.
Strength:Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
Mental:Must be able to read and write English well enough to read and prepare invoices, time sheets and proposals. Must be capable of applying sound business judgment to all decisions.
Working Conditions:This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This includes attics, crawl spaces, and confined locations. The employee will usually have to be in at customer or service production sites on an as need to basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Typical workweek is eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays five (5) days per week with regular weekend work, as well as early and/or late weekday meetings with customers, vendors and staff personnel as needed. This position deals with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful. The Service Technician must maintain a close working relationship with other members of the staff.
Accountability:The Service Technician is accountable to Draintech Inc. for all aspects of his/her job.
If for any reason the technician loses their Driver’s license; Draintech may terminate that employee.
Duties include sewer & drain cleaning; possible general plumbing construction. vacuum truck operation, Electrical experience helpful. Must be able to work flexible hours & on-call rotation nights and weekends. Compensation includes competitive salary, paid time off, health & retirement benefits.
