Full Job Description

Role of Coordinator:

The Communication Coordinator shapes and guides the narrative of our church; ensuring “who we are, what we value, and how we live it out” is clear, compelling, and consistent in our communications. The coordinator is responsible for developing and executing a consistent communications strategy across all platforms (e.g., digital, written, and signage). In addition to developing a strategy and various content, this leader guides messaging across ministries and tells the story of transformation happening in our community.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Develop and Execute Strategy:

Develop and execute a clear, cohesive communication plan across all platforms, including both internal and external communications
Align messaging with the church’s mission, values, and priorities
Help ministries communicate with clarity and consistency
______ Maintain and update branding of all communications
______ Develop training and other materials to enable consistency of communication among communication content creators, e.g., ministry teams
______ Develop an efficient and effective system for review of communications

· Shaping and Sharing Our Story:

Identify and tell stories of transformation, impact, and community life
Create compelling content and graphics for website, social media, email, and print
Ensure new people can quickly understand who we are and why it matters
Create invitational communications that promote our church

· Manage Digital Presence:

Maintain and improve the church website as a clear and engaging entry point
Identify and implement strategies to improve visibility for local and relevant searches
Manage social media platforms with purpose and consistency
Support livestream and digital worship communication as needed

· Managing Written and Signage Communications:

Assess effectiveness of these communication platforms
Generate plans for effective communication and ensure execution of plans

· Schedule:

Flexible weekday hours
Regular attendance at Sunday worship and church events as appropriate for content gathering and storytelling
Attend regular staff meetings and leadership retreats

A strategic thinker who sees the big picture, not just individual tasks
A strong communicator with the ability to write clearly and compellingly
Organized and able to manage multiple projects and timelines
Passionate about storytelling and helping communities communicate their purpose
Aligned with Bothell UMC’s commitment to inclusion, justice, and belonging
Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals and groups
Proficient in software used to create both electronic and hardcopy communications such as newsletters, fliers, and brochures
Proficient in using social media platforms for creating stories and information about the church and its activities

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
