campusSEA Summer Program

campusSEA is a co-ed, residential summer culinary program for motivated high school students with a deep passion for cooking. Located in Seattle, Washington, our program brings together aspiring young chefs for an immersive, fast-paced culinary experience. We are seeking a certified Registered Nurse or EMT to serve as our Health Director, overseeing the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff throughout the program.

This role is ideal for someone who is clinically competent, highly organized, calm under pressure, and genuinely enjoys working with teenagers in a lively camp environment. You will be the primary medical authority on site and a trusted presence for students experiencing anything from routine medication needs to minor injuries or moments when they simply need care and reassurance.

Location & Dates

Location: Seattle, WA

Staff Training: July 8-11

Camp Dates: July 12–25

Last Day of Work: July 25

All staff live on campus for the duration of training and camp. Housing and three meals per day are provided.

About the Role

As Health Director, you are responsible for student health and safety 24/7. This includes medication administration, first aid, health monitoring, medical record organization, and emergency response when needed. Our program mission requires a certified RN or EMT to be on site at all times.

You’ll work closely with the camp directors and counseling staff to ensure every student is supported in a safe, healthy, and positive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Administering and tracking all student medications
Providing first aid and basic medical care as needed
Monitoring student health and identifying potential concerns
Maintaining accurate medical records for students and staff
Keeping the health center stocked, organized, and accessible
Communicating regularly with camp leadership about student needs
Serving as a steady, reassuring presence for students

We believe safety comes first, fun comes second, and learning follows naturally when both are in place.

Typical Schedule

Monday–Friday

7:00–9:00 AM: Morning medication distribution
10:00 AM–6:00 PM: On standby in or near the kitchen for injuries or emergencies
6:00–9:00 PM: Free time (you are welcome to join evening activities)
9:00–11:00 PM: Evening medication distribution

Additional Responsibilities:

Daily check-ins with the Camp Director regarding supplies and student needs
On-call availability for emergencies, 24/7
Sunday (Check-In Day): 9:00 AM–8:00 PM, parents drop off medications and review medical needs
Saturday (Closing Day): 9:30 AM–12:00 PM, returning medications to parents before student checkout

As Health Director, you play a critical role in supporting both their physical well-being and their emotional experience at camp.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse license or Washington State EMT certification (required)
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Comfortable being fully accountable for the well-being of students and staff
Calm, flexible, and able to think on your feet
Prior camp or youth program experience is a plus, but not required
High integrity, responsibility, and warmth

Compensation & Benefits

Contract position: $1,100 per week
Room & board provided: Air-conditioned dorm housing and all meals
Event access: Camp covers tickets for activities you are supervising
Letter of recommendation for strong performance
