POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recreation Leader I - Athletic Attendant is responsible for assisting with various duties within the Athletics Division. Key responsibilities include setting up sports rentals, supporting league play, keeping game score and preparing fields for ball games. This position requires a reliable, independent individual who can work evenings and weekends. The candidate must demonstrate responsibility and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Work hours and location will be flexible and mutually agreed upon with Recreation Supervisor.
DUTIES AND TASKS:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Set up and take down for gym/sports rentals as assigned and required. Open and prepare gym, close down and lock up facility.
- Monitor and maintain safety and cleanliness of facility and equipment closet.
- Provide customer service to patrons.
- Operate and track scores of league games/matches.
- Manage site operations and supervision of program.
- Drag and line fields for baseball and softball games.
- Perform emergency and rescue procedures.
- Fill out scorecards, reports and file paperwork as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Directly report to Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Programmers, Recreation Coordinators, and Recreation Leader IIs.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various park settings.
- Some tasks may be required in inclement weather conditions or heat.
- Minimal exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, turface, chalk.
- Some duties involve heavy physical labor.
- Set-up of equipment and tables may be required for programs and facility use.
- Responsibilities may include lifting heavy objects.
- Work may involve potential hazards related to motorized groundskeeping equipment, including vibrations, loud noises, offensive smells, dust, dirt, mud and water.
- May be required to respond to emergencies at times other than regularly scheduled hours.
- Work may be conducted at various sites and locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Age 18 or older with interest in athletics/sports
- Pass Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting
- Current CPR and First Aid required within 60 days of hiring

COMPENSATION:
Hourly wage range: $18.69–$22.98 (non-benefited).
The full pay range is posted for transparency purposes. New hire’s compensation is placed between the start and midpoint of the range, based on qualifications, skills and experience. This approach ensures internal equity, as well as room for growth and progression within the pay band over time.
