Pay Rate: $75,000-$85,000 per year

Job Overview:

The Payroll Specialist manages the full-cycle payroll process for approximately 500 employees throughout California. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. This position works closely with Human Resources, Finance, employees, and payroll system partners to resolve payroll issues, maintain accurate records, and support the organization's payroll and compensation processes. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive employee and payroll information.

Key Responsibilities:

Process payroll with Paylocity for employees accurately and on time
Verify timekeeping records and ensure accuracy
Calculate bonuses and other incentives
Handle payroll inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Assist with payroll tax filings and audits
Collaborate with HR and finance departments as needed

Requirements:

3+ years of progressive payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing required.
1-2 years experience using Paylocity preferred
Working knowledge of California payroll requirements.
Strong understanding of payroll principles and regulations
Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Extremely organized, accurate and detailed orient
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member
Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
