Full Job Description

Position Summary

Consolidated Packaging Group (CPG) is seeking an experienced and hands-on Quality Manager to lead the Quality Department at our New Jersey manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Director of Quality, this position is responsible for overseeing all Quality Assurance and Quality Control operations, supervising the QA Technicians, maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement throughout the facility.

The Quality Manager will work closely with Operations, Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, and Sales to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications while maintaining CPG’s commitment to excellence, food safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

Report directly to the Director of Quality and execute company-wide quality initiatives.
Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate the QA Technicians to ensure consistent performance and adherence to quality standards.
Manage the daily operations of the Quality Department, including scheduling, workload distribution, and performance management.
Maintain compliance with SQF, FDA, GMP, HACCP, customer-specific requirements, and all applicable regulatory standards.
Ensure the facility remains audit-ready and lead internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
Investigate customer complaints, internal quality issues, and non-conformances while leading effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Conduct root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Develop, maintain, and improve quality procedures, SOPs, specifications, work instructions, and inspection standards.
Review and monitor production quality data, including scrap, waste, defects, customer complaints, first-pass yield, and quality KPIs.
Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, and Operations to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process inspections, finished product inspections, laboratory testing, and product release activities.
Manage supplier quality issues and support supplier qualification and performance improvement initiatives.
Lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing waste, improving efficiencies, and strengthening quality systems.
Train employees on GMPs, food safety, quality standards, sanitation, and quality procedures.
Support new product development, process validations, customer qualifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure accurate document control, record retention, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, food safety, and operational excellence throughout the facility.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of quality leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
Previous supervisory experience managing Quality Assurance personnel required.
Experience in flexible packaging, printing, converting, plastics, or food packaging manufacturing strongly preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Strong knowledge of SQF, FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, and quality management systems.
Experience leading customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/QMS software.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
