Job Title: Direct Care Staff

As a Direct Care Staff personnel with JumpStart 2 Living ISL, you'll be one of those special people. DCS’s are the link to the community for those they serve and is one of the most exemplary reflections of the wonderful mission driven work we do here every day. The people that carry out this rewarding, caregiving support play an integral and crucial role in the success of our organization. JumpStart 2 Living ISL is seeking Direct Care Staff personnel to work cooperatively with the program staff in providing consistent programming and behavioral interventions. Provides direct support and mentoring, being actively engaged with consumers, in programming as outlined in the personal plan. Ensures clients are safe and healthy.

Duties: Provides overall care and services, which may include cooking, cleaning, and laundry, for people living at the homes. Provides education and support to consumers in completing daily hygiene, eating well balanced meals and snacks, administering medication, and overall upkeep of the home. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the home and completes maintenance requests as necessary. Provides education to consumers regarding their human rights and ensures that rights are respected. Provides education and support to consumers to expand leisure interests and social opportunities, to increase affiliation in their community, and to make friends. Provides support to consumers in communicating regularly with their friends, family, physicians and other providers, and records communication of all contacts (parent, family, school, physician, etc.) and visits to the home. Conducts self in polite and professional manner with consumers and families, supervisors, team members, and other service providers. Transports clients to scheduled appointments, work, school, or community outings in personal vehicle. Adheres to JumpStart 2 Living ISL’s policies and procedures and provides services in accordance with accreditation standards. Maintains client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA practices. Maintains current certifications and trainings as required. Attends all required staff meetings and opportunities for ongoing education and training. Implements treatment protocols and programs based on the Behavior Support Plan and works as member of the behavioral support team. Documents detailed behavioral data throughout shift and completes reports, service documentation and other required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Must be able to assess situations quickly and choose the appropriate intervention. Models coping, problem-solving and social skills encouraging appropriate boundaries and attachments. Supports clients during crisis situations or periods of agitation by verbal or other non-violent interventions. Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation. Provides consumers with on-going assessment and feedback on progress toward consumers goals. Monitors consumers physical and emotional well-being and reports unusual behavior, changes in condition or mental health manifestations to appropriate support team.

CURRENT SHIFT OPENINGS:

MONDAY-FRIDAY 8AM-1PM

Qualifications: ·

Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (must have a diploma or transcripts that have your graduation date listed before you can begin employment) or be willing to complete a 100 hour Direct Support Staff training program
Must have or be willing to take Level 1 medication Aid certification with passing scores (current certification preferred)
Must have or will willing to take CPR/First Aid classes with passing scores (current certification preferred)
Additional training courses for the job as needed (Abuse and Neglect Training, Positive Behavioral Support Training, Missouri Outcomes training)·
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must maintain a safe driving record.
Must have clean, reliable working vehicle with enough fuel to meet consumers’ transportation needs.
Must have and maintain current car insurance during employment.
Must be able to pass all background checks. ·
1 year experience working with disabled individuals is preferred.

Pay starts at $16.50/hour. After 90 days with good work history the hourly rate goes up to $17/hour

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
