We’re looking for someone who brings intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a desire to continuously improve—not just complete the work but elevate it. This role is designed for a finance professional who has mastered the fundamentals of accounting and is eager to grow through problem-solving, strategic client advisory work, leadership and growth opportunities.

POSITION: Controller / Director of Finance

Location: Remote (Texas Residents Only - applicants outside of Texas will not be considered)

Job Type: Full-time

Travel Required: Approximately 25%, with periodic higher-travel months based on client needs.

Position Summary: This position supports multiple clients through financial reporting and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, policy development, client onboarding, and executive and board-level reporting.

This position works under the direction of the CFO/Director of Accounting Services.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage and support multiple clients.
Perform and oversee detailed balance sheet account reconciliations and general journal entries.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual financial statements.
Support audit preparation and serve as a key liaison with external auditors.
Develop operating budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
Interface directly with client leadership, staff, and professional service providers.
Present financial information to CEO’s, board of directors, executive committees and finance committees.
Review, develop and revise financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
Provide exceptional customer service and act as a trusted financial advisor to clients.
Perform other duties necessary to support the success of our clients and CFO by design.

Required Qualifications & Qualities for Success: This position will have a significant impact on our growing, fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate possesses:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
7–10 years of progressive accounting experience
Hands-on Sage Intacct and QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
Proven ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audiences
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Consulting or advisory mindset preferred
Ability to manage multiple priorities and client relationships simultaneously
Intellectually curious with a desire for continuous growth and improvement
Willingness to travel approximately 25–50%
