Full Job Description

Operations Manager

Company: Banner Environmental Department: Field Operations Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: On-site / in person, with regional travel to active project sites across New England Employment type: Full-time

Position Summary

The Operations Manager oversees day-to-day operations for Banner's field projects, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental and safety regulations. This role manages field operations, supervises project teams, coordinates resources, and drives operational excellence across Banner's core service lines — asbestos abatement, mold remediation, demolition (selective and structural), environmental remediation, and site restoration — from mobilization through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily operations across Banner's field projects — including field activities, logistics, and resource allocation — from mobilization through closeout.
Direct project execution across all of Banner's service lines and project types.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients — communicating project status, responding to questions and concerns, and ensuring a high level of satisfaction from kickoff through closeout.
Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify work quality and safety, and provide hands-on support to field crews and supervisors.
Coordinate with the shop to ensure field teams have the equipment, tools, materials, and supplies they need on site, when they need them.
Communicate regularly with the sales team to align on project scope, upcoming work, and client expectations, and with accounting to support accurate billing, job costing, and change orders.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA, OSHA, DOT, and asbestos-specific requirements such as NESHAP, as well as applicable demolition and mold-remediation standards.
Manage field supervisors, project managers, and crews to meet project goals, schedules, and performance standards.
Develop and implement operational best practices and standard operating procedures.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor utilization, and equipment usage to ensure profitability and efficiency.
Coordinate subcontractors and staffing needs across concurrent projects.
Partner with safety and compliance teams to promote and sustain a strong safety culture.
Review incident reports, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze operational KPIs and prepare performance reports for leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management (or a related field), or 5–10 years of equivalent hands-on experience.
Construction industry background (required).
Proven project scheduling experience (required).
3–5 years of operations management experience in asbestos/mold abatement, demolition, environmental remediation, hazardous waste, or related industrial services.
Strong working knowledge of construction and field operations.
In-depth understanding of environmental, abatement, and demolition regulations and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing field-based teams.
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management / operations software.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to active project sites across New England.

Preferred Qualifications

OSHA 30-Hour certification.
Asbestos and/or mold abatement licensing or certification (e.g., state abatement supervisor / AHERA).
Experience across multiple service lines — asbestos, mold, demolition, or waste management.
Bilingual English/Spanish (beneficial but not required).

Certifications & Licenses

Valid driver's license (required).
