About Desco AV
Desco Audio Video has been designing and installing custom integration systems throughout the South Puget Sound since 1969. We specialize in premium residential and commercial technology solutions, including audio, video, networking, automation, lighting control, security, surveillance, and commercial AV systems.
Our vision is to be the best-in-class provider of seamless AV solutions, recognized for unmatched consistency and excellence in transforming spaces and elevating experiences.
Everything we do starts with the customer. Our goal isn't simply to install technology—it's to create thoughtfully integrated systems that improve how people experience their homes and businesses. We believe the quality of our work is reflected not only in the finished product, but in how we communicate, solve problems, and support one another as a team.
If you take pride in your craftsmanship, enjoy solving problems, and want to work alongside people who genuinely care about doing quality work, we'd like to meet you.
About the Position
We're looking for an experienced Lead Custom Integration Installation Technician (Washington 06 Journeyman) to lead residential and commercial custom integration projects.
This person is responsible for the successful execution of each installation—from rough-in through commissioning readiness. You'll oversee the work happening on site, mentor apprentices, coordinate with project managers, system programmers, builders, and other trades, and make sure every installation meets Desco's standards before it's turned over for programming.
This role isn't just about pulling wire or mounting equipment. It's about taking ownership of the project.
We're looking for someone who plans ahead, communicates well, pays attention to the details, and takes pride in delivering installations that are clean, organized, serviceable, and built to last.
Responsibilities
As the Lead Technician, you'll be responsible for the successful execution of each project in the field. Responsibilities include:
● Lead residential and commercial custom integration projects from rough-in through final installation.
● Read and interpret work orders, project drawings, and installation documentation.
● Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, System Programmers, builders, electricians, and other trades.
● Install structured cabling, networking equipment, distributed audio systems, home theaters, surveillance systems, lighting control, motorized shades, equipment racks, commercial AV systems, DSP systems, and video conferencing solutions.
● Ensure all installations follow industry best practices for craftsmanship, wire management, rack layout, cable labeling, service loops, and finish work.
● Mount televisions, displays, speakers, and other equipment with precision and attention to detail.
● Perform installation quality assurance by testing every cable, wire drop, and installed device before systems are commissioned.
● Identify and resolve installation issues before programming begins.
● Complete detailed work order notes, project documentation, and installation photos following each appointment.
● Keep Project Managers informed of project progress, field conditions, and material needs.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite while protecting customer property.
● Supervise and mentor Apprentice Technicians by assigning work, teaching installation best practices, and helping them grow in the trade.
● Maintain your assigned company vehicle, inventory, and tools.
What Makes Someone Successful Here?
The best technicians at Desco take ownership of their work.
They don't wait to be told what to do. They think ahead, communicate early, solve problems, and help keep projects moving.
They understand that the details matter—from perfectly aligned TVs and organized racks to labeled wiring and clean documentation. They know when to slow down to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and when to work efficiently without compromising quality.
They treat customers' homes and businesses with respect, help apprentices develop their skills, and continue learning as technology evolves.
Most importantly, they're team players. They ask questions when they need help, share what they know with others, and understand that great projects are built by great teams.
