JOB SUMMARY
The QA Analyst I works collaboratively within the Information Technology department and with the various business units to execute and validate test cases based on specified system requirements. The QA Analyst I is responsible for creating end- to-end test plans; executing the plan and managing all activities in the plan to ensure that all objectives are being met and that solutions delivered work as expected. This includes the development and execution of test scripts, based on QA standards, for all KLC IT systems, those owned and operated by the KLC and those operated on behalf of the KLC by its vendors. These include the on-line gaming system, instant ticket validation system, back-office business system, web infrastructure, and all corporate network applications. Assists in the total project development process and provides specific system and business expertise necessary to implement KLC business systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and executes test plans and scripts for all KLC applications. This includes applications residing on the iSeries, Intel-based applications residing on the corporate server network, the online gaming system, etc. Effectively and efficiently turns functional requirements into test scenarios and performs various testing processes.
- Assures that functional specifications, vendor-supplied specifications and documentation adhere to KLC’s defined standards. Participates with software engineers and project leaders in the development of functional specifications designed for use in the development process and/or vendor selection.
- Identifies and evaluates test scenario errors and results. Works closely with application developers to determine problem resolution.
- Works closely with gaming vendor on managing and recording of all open code defects.
- Coordinates testing effort with applications users. Assists with the establishment of test plans and work schedules for completion of QA projects. Ensures that testing standards and procedures are followed.
- Analyzes and investigates product complaints or reported quality issues.
- Uses application and/or technical knowledge to assist users with problems and questions relating to the use of a KLC system.
- Creates and maintains documentation on all critical Quality Assurance processes.
- Performs various duties as assigned by the Manager, Quality Assurance, including preparing reports, attending meetings, and performing studies as they relate to information systems.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ hands-on experience in a quality assurance environment, focusing on software application and process testing. Experience working in an IBM iSeries and/or Windows environment required.
- Demonstrated understanding of testing best practices, version control and defect management, with working knowledge of distributed computing environments and ability to complete end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with business systems (e.g., accounting, sales and marketing, purchasing, warehouse distribution) and related computer applications.
- Experience with project methodologies, internet commerce/application testing, hands-on equipment testing (e.g., vending machines), testing mobile apps across various platforms, and maintaining a QA environment for testing efforts.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to grasp high-level business processes.
- High attention-to-detail and organizational skills, with the ability to remain focused and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Above-average computer proficiency, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and IT/Software project teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving deadlines, deliverables, and team-oriented goals.
Desirable:
- Software Quality Assurance certification(s).
- Knowledge of database structures and query tools.
- Familiarity with gaming systems.
- Experience with quality assurance tools, preferably JIRA Test Case Management and JIRA Issue Tracking.

Salary Range: $60,639-$75,798 (Midpoint). Our goal is to pay a competitive market salary for new employees, which is typically up to the midpoint of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills and internal pay equity.
