LEAD Oncology Clinical Pharmacist for Oncology Cancer Center

This LEAD position will be clinical and administrative

Outpatient Cancer Center | 8 Oncologists

JOBSITE:

EMPLOYER is an Academic-Affiliated PREMIER HEALTHCARE CENTER conducting research, medical education, approved for grants, has GME Residents, and Joint Faculty with a University Medical Center. This is a Not-for-Profit, Teaching Hospital and Trauma Center with over 400 beds

PHARMACY DEPARTMENT is recipient of multiple ASHP Best Practice Awards

COMPENSATION:

Base Salary Range $80-$115 per hour
The position offers a very lucrative package, including a $10,000 sign-on bonus, $10,000 relocation assistance, and up to $20,000 in student loan repayment.
Eligible Employer for Public Loan Forgiveness
Onsite Interview Costs are paid (car, flight, hotel)

YOUR IMPACT:

As the LEAD Oncology Pharmacist, you’ll serve as the clinical and operational backbone of the Outpatient Cancer Center:

You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team for management of complex oncology therapies. Your expertise directly impacts patient safety, treatment outcomes, and overall patient experience.
Oversee oncology IV compounding operations
Ensure full compliance with USP <797> & <800> standards and regulatory requirements
Provide informal leadership and guidance to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
Partner with the Clinic Director and Clinic Manager to streamline workflows and elevate care delivery
High visibility role
Opportunity to work with leadership in improving an oncology program

TEAM STRUCTURE:

This position reports directly to Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy
This position does not have direct reports—but strong leadership presence and influence are essential

CLINIC VOLUME:

Monday–Thursday:
80–85 compounded preparations/day
30–45 patients/day
Friday (lighter day):
~40 compounds/day
15–20 patients/day

REQUIREMENTS:

PharmD
PGY1 Required - Required
PGY2 Oncology - Preferred - NOT Required
Experienced in oncology pharmacy, ideally within an infusion or clinic setting
A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and ownership
Strong communicator who can lead without direct authority
Detail-oriented with a passion for compliance, safety, and process improvement
Energized by both clinical work and operational leadership

Join a pharmacy team of 50+ clinical pharmacists, with 80% residency-trained and board-certified, supporting an average daily census of 410 patients.
Work in an integrated decentralized pharmacy model, providing clinical pharmacy services directly on nursing units.
Deliver comprehensive clinical care, including patient rounding, pharmacokinetic and warfarin consults, IV-to-PO conversions, renal dose adjustments, therapeutic interchanges, and medication order verification.
Practice across specialty areas including Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, Oncology, Pediatrics, Pain Management, Anemia Management, and Anticoagulation.
Support decentralized satellite and central pharmacy operations while overseeing pharmacy technician activities.
Review and verify medication orders for patients across acute care units, including ICUs and step-down ICUs.
Develop and monitor treatment plans using pharmacist-driven protocols.
Participate in emergency response teams, including Code Blue and Rapid Response events.
Document clinical interventions to demonstrate the clinical and financial impact of pharmacy services.
Collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to optimize medication therapy.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including patient care projects, policies and procedures, order sets, formulary management, and committee work.
