Full Job Description

You will struggle to find a tax role with more autonomy or flexibility than at this small Worcester CPA firm.

The bigger sell though is who you are working with.

I have known the owner for years and have seen his integrity firsthand. He genuinely cares about what you want your career and your life to look like, and he will shape this opportunity around that.

Want to become a stronger technical tax person? Great.

Want to learn how to build and run a CPA firm? Even better.

Want to own your own firm one day? That is not a problem. He gets your expertise for a few years, you learn how a growing firm operates, and he helps you get where you want to go.

Once trust is built, you will also have complete flexibility over how and when you work. Clients being looked after matters far more than whether you are sitting at a desk at 8:03am.

You will lead the technical side of the firm, take ownership of client delivery, review and finalise tax work, deal directly with clients and the IRS, and develop the junior tax people. You will also have a real say in how the firm works. If a process should change, change it. If there is better software or a smarter way to get the work done, build it.

The firm is intentionally staying small, around 4, 5 or 6 people, so your ideas will actually matter.

The work: Clients are mostly closely held businesses, partnerships and S Corps, often around $1m to $5m in revenue, across real estate, construction, property management, IT and other owner managed businesses.

Benefits: You will get 200 hours of PTO, roughly 10 additional holidays, a Simple IRA with 3% match and up to $3,000 for CPE.

Requirements: You will probably have around 7 years or more in public accounting. CPA or EA would be useful, but the bigger thing is being technically strong enough to work independently, create the plan and help others get better.
