Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery in a manufacturing environment. This role leads and supports production employees, enforces company policies and work standards, and works closely with other departments to meet production goals. The Production Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and engaged workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets.
Lead, train, and support hourly production employees; assign work, monitor performance, and provide coaching and feedback.
Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures; promote a strong safety culture and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Ensure production meets quality standards; identify issues and take corrective action as needed.
Monitor production schedules, staffing levels, and workflow to ensure operational goals are met.
Complete daily production reports and maintain accurate records related to output, downtime, attendance, and labor hours.
Address employee performance, attendance, and conduct issues in a timely and consistent manner, including documentation and corrective action.
Coordinate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and logistics to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
Support onboarding and training of new employees; ensure employees are properly trained and qualified for assigned tasks.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
Communicate production priorities, expectations, and updates to employees and management.
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
5-7 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety practices, and quality standards.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing production demands.
Advanced computer skills, including experience with production reporting, timekeeping, or manufacturing systems.
Experience in a non-union environment preferred.

Work Environment

Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
May require overtime, weekends, or shift work based on production needs.
