Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team. Prior law firm litigation experience is required. Experience in labor and employment litigation is strongly preferred, although we are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong litigation background and is motivated to develop expertise in employment law.

This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who wants to take on meaningful responsibility, work closely with attorneys, and continue developing within a busy litigation practice. This is not an entry level position. Candidates should have prior experience working as a paralegal in a litigation practice and should be comfortable managing cases, tracking deadlines, assisting with discovery, preparing basic pleadings, and supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process.

Because we are an active litigation firm, strong organizational skills and familiarity with court deadlines, calendaring, filing requirements, and case management are essential.

Responsibilities

Manage and organize litigation files from intake through resolution.

Maintain the firm's case management system and ensure case information is accurate and current.

Calendar and monitor court deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearings, depositions, and other important litigation dates.

Prepare and assist with basic pleadings, notices, correspondence, discovery documents, and other litigation materials.

Assist with written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and related responses.

Organize and review documents produced during discovery.

Prepare exhibits, deposition materials, hearing materials, and trial preparation materials.

Assist attorneys with court filings and ensure compliance with applicable filing requirements.

Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar legal research platforms.

Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy, formatting, and completeness.

Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and other parties as necessary.

Assist attorneys with case preparation and other litigation related projects.

Qualifications

Prior experience working as a paralegal at a law firm handling litigation matters is required.

Experience with labor and employment litigation is required.

Familiarity with California state court procedures and litigation deadlines.

Experience with calendaring and tracking court and discovery deadlines.

Experience preparing or assisting with pleadings and written discovery.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple cases, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong proofreading and document review skills.

Familiarity with case management software and electronic court filing systems.

Familiarity with Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar legal research tools.

Professional, dependable, team oriented, and eager to grow.

Important Experience Requirement

We are separately hiring for Legal Assistant positions. This posting is specifically for an experienced Paralegal.

Applicants must have prior paralegal experience in a law firm litigation environment. Candidates without prior paralegal experience will not be considered for this particular position and should instead apply for one of our Legal Assistant openings.
