We're conducting a confidential search for an experienced, results-driven Automotive General Manager to lead one of our established dealerships in the Silver Spring, Maryland market.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all dealership operations, including Sales, Finance, Service, Parts, and Administration.
Forecast, plan, and achieve monthly and annual sales, profitability, and operational objectives.
Develop and execute strategic business plans that drive sustainable growth and market share.
Prepare, manage, and monitor dealership operating budgets and financial performance.
Analyze financial statements, manufacturer reports, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure effective inventory management, operational compliance, OEM standards, and process consistency.
Recruit, hire, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing managers and employees throughout the dealership.
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
Coach department leaders to improve profitability, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and CSI results.
Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the dealership while assisting with customer concerns and deal structure when needed.
Partner with Fixed Operations leadership to maximize service retention, departmental profitability, and customer loyalty.
Oversee CRM utilization and ensure consistent execution of sales and follow-up processes.
Collaborate with marketing partners to maximize traffic, digital retail performance, and lead conversion.
Build strong relationships with OEM representatives, lending partners, and vendors.
Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally while reinforcing a customer-first culture.
Partner with executive leadership on compensation strategies, succession planning, and organizational growth.
Maintain a safe, professional, ethical, and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

Three or more years of progressive automotive dealership leadership experience.
Previous experience as a Sales Consultant, Finance Manager, Used Car Manager, and General Sales Manager strongly preferred.
Previous Automotive General Manager experience is preferred; however, we strongly encourage exceptional, high-performing General Sales Managers with a proven record of leadership, profitability, and team development who are ready to advance into their first General Manager position to apply.
Demonstrated success increasing dealership profitability, market share, unit sales, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
Proven ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing leadership teams.
Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and profit and loss accountability.
Experience interpreting dealership financial statements, OEM reporting, and F&I performance metrics.
Strong understanding of prime and subprime finance operations.
Experience leading organizational change and operational improvement initiatives.
Experience with Reynolds & Reynolds, eLeads, vAuto, Dealertrack, or similar dealership management systems preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Import franchise experience preferred but not required.
Stable employment history demonstrating long-term leadership success.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical business practices.
