Part-Time | Hybrid (at least 1 day in the office) | Interior Design Firm
Our growing interior design firm is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Senior Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations for multiple business entities. This role is ideal for a highly organized accounting professional with strong bookkeeping experience who can work independently, maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment, and take ownership of day-to-day financial management.
Candidates with experience in construction, architecture, or other project-based industries are strongly encouraged to apply. However, candidates with bookkeeping experience supporting professional services firms or other project-based businesses will also be considered.
We are looking for someone with a proactive, go-getter mentality; a professional who takes initiative, follows through, and stays on top of outstanding items. This role requires someone who is proactive about managing receivables, comfortable handling collections professionally, and confident following up to ensure timely client payments and healthy cash flow.
This is a part-time hybrid remote position. The role will be primarily remote; however, candidates must be local to the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area and available to work in-person at our Silver Spring office approximately one day per week for meetings with leadership, collaboration, and operational support during normal business hours.
We are open to independent contractors and bookkeeping professionals supporting multiple clients, provided availability aligns with our business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all full-cycle bookkeeping functions for multiple entities
- Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
- Monitor cash flow and assist leadership with financial planning
- Prepare monthly financial reports and conduct cost analysis reviews
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation
- Coordinate year-end close processes with outside CPA firms
- Assist with tax preparation, audit support, and annual 1099 filings
- Review contracts, budgets, and project-related financial documentation
- Manage collections and proactively follow up on outstanding invoices and receivables
- Coordinate third-party payroll processing
- Identify opportunities to improve internal financial systems and workflows
- Provide financial and administrative support to company leadership
Qualifications
- 6+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience required
- Advanced QuickBooks experience required (QuickBooks certification preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and reporting
- Experience managing bookkeeping independently with minimal oversight
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and cash flow management
- Experience in construction or project-based industries strongly preferred

Position Details
- Part-Time: Approximately 25–30 hours per week
- Hybrid Remote Position (at least 1 day in the office)
- This is a contractor role and does not include benefits as you will be a 1099 employee
- Primarily remote with approximately one in-office day per week in Silver Spring, MD
- Must be local to the DMV area
- Availability during standard business hours required

Preferred Education
Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
