Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and organized voice of our medical practice, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient experiences. Your energetic approach and strong administrative skills will help facilitate efficient clinic workflows, manage patient interactions, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a caring healthcare environment while utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of medical administrative support and electronic health record systems.

Duties

Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using our EMR system, Athenahealth.
Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently, ensuring optimal clinic flow.
Collect and process payments, insurance information, and outstanding balances using medical billing and collection procedures.
Review and update patient records, ensuring documentation review aligns with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
Manage incoming phone calls with professional phone etiquette, addressing inquiries related to appointments, insurance coverage, and medical records requests.
Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by coordinating care plans and documenting relevant information in EHR systems.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; experience with electronic health records management is highly preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical billing practices.
Ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone communication and office etiquette.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and 10-key typing for data entry tasks.
Previous clinic or hospital experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and health information management.
