Full Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a growing business. This is a hands-on role for an accounting professional who thrives in a small business environment, someone who takes ownership of their work, brings structure and accuracy to our financial processes, and takes pride in getting the details right. Working closely with our Accounting Leader, you'll help keep our books clean, our reporting reliable, and our financial operations running smoothly so our leadership can make confident decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, customer collections, vendor payments, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a regular and timely basis.
Perform timely reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
Assist with monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances as needed.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Assist in the preparation, calculation, and review of monthly commission reports to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
Support the month-end close process by completing assigned accounting tasks and meeting reporting deadlines.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
Contribute to the annual budgeting process by compiling financial data and supporting budget analyses.
Support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls to promote compliance, accuracy, and efficient financial operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in a staff accountant role
Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proven ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience in a small business environment (under 50 employees) — highly valued.
Background in professional services, consulting, coaching, or media/publishing industries.
CPA license or active CPA candidacy is a significant plus.
Experience supporting executive leadership with financial reporting and strategic analysis.
Familiarity with business management platforms such as HubSpot, Monday.com, or similar tools.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
