Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an assistant to our head baker. In this role, you will play a vital part in our pastry production process, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and presentation

We're looking for someone who is eager to learn the traditional craft of baking. This is a hands-on position where you'll work under the direction of our Master Baker and Head Baker, learning the time-honored methods that have made Lou's Pastry a local favorite.

What We're Looking For:

Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Culinary experience preferred
Ability to follow instructions—this is not a position for bringing your own recipes or baking methods
Comfortable working with your hands using traditional techniques—not modern automated machinery
Exceptional personal hygiene and commitment to proper food handling
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced bakery environment
Dependable and punctual

Training & Responsibilities
Tasks and responsibilities will be assigned as you demonstrate competency in:

Reading and following formulas
Mixing doughs correctly
Forming breads and laminated doughs
Traditional baking techniques
Prepare and package food items efficiently, ensuring freshness and quality.
Assist in various food production tasks, scaling ingredients, baking and finish work on pastry.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen to comply with food safety regulations.
Provide excellent customer service by engaging with clients and addressing their needs, answering questions.
Utilize knife skills for precise cutting and preparation of ingredients.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods.
Follow all food handling procedures to guarantee safety and hygiene in food preparation.

Experience

Previous experience in a culinary role within the food industry is preferred.
Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

ServSafe® Certification is a plus, but not required.
