Front Desk Medical Receptionist
Glen Rock, NJ
$23-25/HR

Position Overview
The Front Desk Medical Receptionist will join a busy Geriatrics practice in Glen Rock, NJ. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients while supporting daily front office operations in a fast-paced outpatient physician office. The ideal candidate will have recent physician office experience, strong customer service skills, and hands-on experience using Athena EMR.

Front Desk Medical Receptionist Responsibilities

Greet patients and provide exceptional customer service during check-in and check-out.
Register patients and accurately update demographic and insurance information.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Answer and manage a high-volume, multi-line phone system while routing calls and taking detailed messages.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
Scan, upload, and maintain patient documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Assist with front office administrative duties, including billing support, referrals, and prior authorizations as needed.
Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and office personnel to ensure efficient daily operations.
Follow established office procedures, compliance requirements, and patient visit protocols.
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Supervisor.

Front Desk Medical Receptionist Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of recent physician office or outpatient front desk experience required (3+ years preferred).
Experience with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and front office operations.
Insurance verification and patient demographic updates required.
Experience working in a fast-paced outpatient physician practice with high-volume multi-line phones.
Experience using an EMR system required; Athena EMR experience is required and must be listed on the resume.
Computer proficiency required; Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel experience preferred.
Prior authorization, referral coordination, geriatrics/specialty practice experience, and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred.
Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills with the ability to maintain HIPAA compliance.
Must submit an updated resume, interview availability, earliest start date, and disclose any planned time off.
COVID-19 vaccination documentation (primary series plus one booster) is required.
Must be committed to completing all compliance, screening, vaccination, and onboarding requirements without delay.
