Wine Educator:
Suhru & Lieb Vineyards is looking for an experienced, passionate, and personable Wine Educator to join our growing team on the North Fork.
This is not an entry-level tasting room position. We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for wine, a strong foundation in wine knowledge, and the confidence to engage with everyone—from first-time visitors to collectors and seasoned wine enthusiasts.
Our tasting room can be fast-paced and high-energy, so we're looking for someone who thrives in a busy hospitality environment while delivering exceptional guest experiences with knowledge, warmth, professionalism, and authenticity.
About the Role:
This position combines traditional tasting room service with the opportunity to lead private wine tastings for our Wine Club members, VIP guests, and private groups.
You'll be expected to confidently discuss:
- Wine styles and production methods
- Viticulture and winemaking
- The North Fork AVA
- Food and wine pairing
- Vintage variation
- Our wines and the stories behind them
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable serving a full tasting room on a busy Saturday afternoon as they are leading an intimate educational tasting for knowledgeable wine lovers.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional hospitality to every guest.
- Lead engaging seated wine tastings and private educational experiences.
- Confidently discuss our wines, vineyards, winemaking philosophy, and the North Fork wine region.
- Recommend wines and food pairings.
- Process wine sales and bottle service using our POS system.
- Promote Wine Club memberships and special events.
- Assist with tasting room setup, stocking, cleaning, opening, and closing duties.
- Work collaboratively with the team during busy service periods while maintaining a calm and positive attitude.
Qualifications and Experience Required for the Role:
- Previous experience working in a winery, tasting room, wine retail, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong wine knowledge and confidence discussing wine with guests.
- Outstanding communication and guest service skills.
- A genuine passion for wine and hospitality.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Weekend and holiday availability.
Highly Desirable:
- WSET Level 2 or 3, Court of Master Sommeliers certification, CSW, or equivalent wine qualification.
- Experience leading educational tastings or wine events.
- Knowledge of Long Island and North Fork wines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 7 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (a full case of wine).

Experience:
- Winery or Tasting Room Experience: 2+ years (Required)
- Wine Hospitality / Restaurant: 2+ years (Required)
- Customer Service / Hospitality: 2+ years (Required)
- Wine Sales: Preferred
Education:
WSET Level 2 or higher (or equivalent wine certification) strongly preferred.
