Full Job Description

Buns & Patties is a new late-night smash burger joint. We’re looking for a motivated, hands-on Kitchen Lead to help lead our back-of-house team.

We're a fast-growing neighborhood restaurant built around scratch cooking, quality ingredients, and genuine hospitality. This is an opportunity to join a young restaurant that's gaining momentum and help shape the culture, systems, and future of the business from the ground up.

Our kitchen runs on a small, easy-to-execute menu, so the focus stays on doing things right, offering great customer service, and keeping service smooth. Starting pay is $20/hr, but with our shared tip pool, our Kitchen Leads can average $26 to $30+/hr.

Job Description:
As a Kitchen Lead at Buns & Patties, you’ll be part of a tight-knit crew making sure every plate lives up to our standards.

Approximately 50 hours per week
Typical schedule: 5 shifts per week, approximately 10 hours each

Responsibilities include:

Lead and supervise the kitchen team during service
Work the line alongside the team during busy shifts
Expedite orders to ensure speed, accuracy, and quality
Receive, inspect, and organize deliveries
Manage prep production and daily pars
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
Hold the team accountable to recipes, portioning, food safety, cleanliness, and quality standards
Monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs
Help improve kitchen systems, efficiency, and consistency
Foster a positive, respectful, team-first culture
Following all food safety and sanitation standards
Supporting your teammates in both kitchen and front of house when needed
Helping with opening/closing duties and general cleaning tasks
Working together to create a positive, respectful, and fun workplace

What We Offer:

$20/hr base pay PLUS shared tips — most shifts will average $28+/hr for a Lead

What We're Looking For

Previous kitchen leadership experience preferred (Kitchen Manager, Lead Cook, Sous Chef, or similar)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Comfortable working in a high-volume environment
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Reliable, accountable, and solution-oriented
Someone who leads by example and isn't afraid to jump on any station
Passion for developing people and building a strong team
Food safety knowledge (ServSafe certification is a plus)

Hours of Operation: Sun–Thu 11am–1am, Fri–Sat 11am–3am
