Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. This role is essential to delivering high-quality sushi and maintaining the precision, consistency, and artistry expected in Japanese cuisine. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in sushi preparation, a commitment to food safety, and a passion for creating an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare sushi, sashimi, and other menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Prepare sushi ingredients, including sushi rice, fish, and vegetables.
Ensure all ingredients are handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including proper storage of fish, rice, and tools.
Skillfully operate and maintain knives and other specialized sushi equipment.
Monitor freshness and quality of ingredients, especially fish and vegetables, and report any concerns.
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and communicate to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
Follow all health and safety standards within the kitchen environment.

Experience

Previous experience as a sushi chef or in a Japanese kitchen is required; additional training will be provided.
Knowledge and experience of fish filleting are highly valued.
Knowledge of preparing sushi rolls, fish handling, and rice preparation is highly valued.
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Flexible and open availability is preferred.

Pay range is subject to change based on experience.
