Position Summary

Mbroh Engineering is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I/C) Designer to support the development of high-quality design packages for industrial, municipal, utility, water/wastewater, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to develop accurate and complete construction documents throughout all phases of project delivery.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience using AutoCAD, Revit, and related design software, along with the ability to independently coordinate and develop instrumentation and controls design deliverables in a collaborative engineering environment.

Position Responsibilities

Prepare detailed instrumentation and controls drawing packages that meet client specifications, company standards, and project requirements.
Develop and revise P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, instrument installation details, interlock diagrams, I/O lists, and related I/C design documents.
Coordinate closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables.
Assist with project development using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, AutoCAD Electrical, and other applicable design tools.
Incorporate engineering markups, field red lines, and client comments into drawing packages in a timely manner.
Manage layers, xrefs, title blocks, sheet sets, plotting, and document organization in accordance with company standards.
Support field verification efforts, as-built documentation, and record drawing updates.
Communicate project progress, schedule impacts, and technical coordination items to project teams.
Participate in quality control reviews to help ensure thorough and accurate design deliverables.
Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to review project details and technical requirements when needed.
Support and mentor junior drafting and design staff as appropriate.

Desired Skills and Experience

5–7+ years of instrumentation and controls (I/C) design experience.
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD required.
Experience with Bluebeam, Revit (Preferred) , AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software desired.
Familiarity with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial control system documentation preferred.
Strong understanding of instrumentation and controls drafting standards, construction documents, and design coordination practices.
Ability to read and interpret engineering markups, specifications, P&IDs, and technical documents.
Experience supporting industrial, municipal, utility, water/wastewater, transportation, or infrastructure projects preferred.
Familiarity with instrumentation installation details, control panels, and process control systems preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently with minimal supervision.
Positive, proactive, and collaborative approach to problem solving and teamwork.
Ability to build strong professional cross-functional and client relationships.
Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D or Smart P&ID tools is highly preferred
Familiarity with data-centric or database-driven design workflows (instrument tags, attributes, and integration with instrument index and I/O lists)
Understanding of tag-based design and consistency between P&IDs, databases, and design deliverables
Working knowledge of Revit for 3D coordination and equipment/instrument placement
Experience coordinating instrumentation design within 3D plant models
Familiarity with BIM coordination processes and multidisciplinary model environments
Experience with Navisworks or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is a plus
Understanding of instrument placement in real plant environments (piping, tanks, pump stations, clarifiers, etc.)
Ability to interpret P&IDs and translate them into practical installation layouts

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
