SUMMARY

Working the 3rd shift (10:45 PM- 7:15 AM), this position operates processing machines; makes machine adjustments as necessary to ensure optimum speed and quality of capsule filling or tablet press/coating operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Sets machine adjustments as required for each job.
Learns and applies all policies and procedures for this position, including safety rules for machine operation and replacement of fluids, and good manufacturing practices.
Cleans area during and end of each shift. This includes cleaning and care of machine in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, cleaning the general area, floor, machine surfaces, etc., where the encapsulator is used.
Performs operator scheduled maintenance checklist.
Arranges boxes and other supporting supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
Places raw materials into machine; operates controls to activate machine. Observes machine operation to detect finished product defects or machine malfunction. Examines finished product to determine accuracy of machine operation. Performs minor machine maintenance.
Assists set up person in obtaining raw materials in a timely manner.
Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

Assists with communicating safety information to new employees. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Previous machine operation experience and basic mechanical aptitude required. Ability to keep the workplace clean and orderly; good personal hygiene practices are required. Ability to maintain high quality standards and fast-paced production, and to successfully troubleshoot a problem with minimal supervision.

The employee must regularly manually lift, move (in some cases drag) slide, raise and/or place:

- Up to 30 lb. force for up to 25 feet and then pull to original position.

- Up to 33 lbs. from 32 inch shelf onto 48 inch shelf, then return to original position.

- Up to 50 lbs. for 3 feet at waist level; lift bag/box onto side and return to original position.

- Up to 60 lbs. from 31 inch shelf and 2-hand carry for up to 5 feet; return 60 lbs. to 31 inch surface.
