Full Job Description

Executive Chef / Kitchen Lead — Craft & Gather, Spokane Valley

Craft & Gather is a neighborhood bar and restaurant on S Dishman Mica Rd — bar, dining room, patio, connected to a pickleball court and the Painted Hills driving range. Nine-plus years in, we’re not trying to be fancy. We’re trying to be the place people actually want to spend their evening.

We’re looking for a chef to lead our kitchen — someone who can work with our existing menu, make improvements where they’re needed, and add specials and seasonal fresh sheets. Full ownership of the food, the team, and how the back of house runs.

What you’ll do

Manage and evolve the menu — improvements, specials, seasonal fresh sheets, pricing, sourcing
Run shift’s prep, line, and closing standards. This is not an office job.
Train, schedule, and manage the entire kitchen team
Handle ordering, inventory, and food cost
Work closely with ownership and front of house — this is a collaborative operation, not a kitchen that operates in a silo
Bring ideas. Push back when something isn’t working. We want a partner in the food, not someone waiting for instructions

What we’re looking for

Real experience leading a kitchen — chef or sous chef with a track record of running the show
Someone who can build and manage a team, not just cook
Comfortable with a casual, high-volume bar-and-grill format — this isn’t fine dining
Business-minded enough to think about food cost and margins, not just flavor
Reliable and hands-on. You’ll be in the kitchen, not just managing from a clipboard
