Position Summary
The Casino Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance department and ensuring that the casino, hotel, restaurants, and associated facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, functional, and professional condition. This position supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to facility emergencies, and works closely with casino operations, security, surveillance, housekeeping, food and beverage, and management.
The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to maintain a high standard of workmanship while minimizing downtime and disruptions to casino operations. This position requires strong leadership, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize maintenance needs in a 24-hour gaming environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Supervise the daily activities of maintenance personnel and assign work based on operational priorities.
- Inspect the property regularly to identify maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and facility concerns.
- Coordinate and perform preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems within the scope of qualifications.
- Maintain casino, hotel, restaurant, back-of-house, parking, exterior, and other property areas in good working condition.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, water leaks, HVAC issues, electrical problems, and other facility emergencies.
- Maintain appropriate records of completed work, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies are properly maintained, secured, and inventoried.
Casino and Gaming Operations
- Provide timely maintenance support to casino operations while minimizing disruption to gaming activities.
- Coordinate maintenance work around gaming-floor operations and customer activity.
- Work with Slot Operations, Slot Maintenance, Surveillance, Security, Cage, and Casino Management when maintenance issues affect gaming operations.
- Ensure maintenance work performed in restricted or sensitive areas follows applicable property procedures and access requirements.
- Immediately report any condition that may affect gaming operations, regulatory compliance, security, or patron safety to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain awareness of Nevada Gaming Control Board requirements applicable to maintenance activities and property operations.
Preventive Maintenance
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program for critical building and facility equipment.
- Establish maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, generators, pumps, water heaters, kitchen equipment, elevators, lighting, and other property equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures before they result in costly repairs or operational interruptions.
- Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and ensure scheduled work is completed on time.
- Recommend replacement or upgrades for aging or unreliable equipment.
Staff Supervision
- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance employees.
- Establish clear expectations for quality of work, productivity, attendance, safety, and customer service.
- Ensure employees follow proper maintenance procedures and use appropriate tools and personal protective equipment.
- Review completed work to ensure repairs meet established standards.
- Address performance issues promptly and communicate significant concerns to management.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct within the department.
Vendors and Contractors
- Coordinate outside contractors and service providers performing work on property.
- Obtain estimates and assist management with evaluating repair and replacement options.
- Monitor contractor work to ensure it is completed safely, correctly, and according to specifications.
- Verify that contractors follow property safety, security, and access procedures.
- Maintain records of contractor visits, repairs, inspections, and warranties.
- Notify management of significant deficiencies, delays, or unexpected costs.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees, guests, and contractors.
- Conduct regular inspections for potential safety hazards and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, fire and life-safety requirements, building codes, and company policies.
- Assist with fire inspections, emergency preparedness, and required regulatory inspections.
- Immediately address hazards that could result in injury, property damage, or interruption of casino operations.
- Maintain required safety documentation and maintenance records.
Budget and Inventory
- Assist management with preparation and management of the maintenance department budget.
- Monitor maintenance expenses and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of parts, supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Obtain approval for major purchases and capital expenditures in accordance with company policy.
- Evaluate repair-versus-replacement decisions based on cost, reliability, and expected useful life.
Emergency Response
- Respond to facility emergencies, including power outages, water leaks, HVAC failures, plumbing failures, fire/life-safety issues, and other critical situations.
- Assist with emergency response procedures and business-continuity efforts.
- Coordinate with Security, Surveillance, Casino Management, and emergency services when appropriate.
- Participate in an on-call or after-hours response program as required.
- Ensure critical equipment and emergency systems are inspected and maintained.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible maintenance experience, preferably in a casino, hotel, resort, commercial facility, or similar environment.
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, maintenance documentation, and basic electrical/mechanical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced, 24-hour operation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies when required.
- Valid driver's license will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a casino or gaming environment.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other applicable trade certifications.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of fire/life-safety systems and commercial building systems.
- Experience supervising maintenance employees.
- Experience managing outside contractors and service vendors.
- Knowledge of Nevada Gaming Control Board requirements and casino operational procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated areas.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials as required.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely operate common maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform emergency maintenance duties when required.

Reports To: General Manager / CEO / VP of Operations
Supervises: Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Workers, and other assigned facilities personnel.
