Legal Assistant – Litigation Support

Location: Houston, Texas – Upper Kirby Area

Work Location: In Person

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000

Firm Overview

We are a well-established Houston law firm handling complex family law, CPS/child welfare, juvenile, and appellate matters.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team. This position is best suited for a candidate who can work independently, learn quickly, and contribute immediately in a fast-paced litigation environment. This position supports attorneys in both substantive legal work and case management, including drafting pleadings, e-filing, calendaring, client communication, and trial preparation.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically proficient, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while producing accurate, high-quality work.

Qualifications

Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Texas family law practice; five (5) or more years preferred
Experience in CPS/child welfare and/or appellate matters preferred
Experience supporting attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trial preparation, and case management
Strong familiarity with court procedures, local rules, filing requirements, deadlines, and e-filing practices in Harris County and surrounding counties
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software, systems, and workflows
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work

Responsibilities

Draft, revise, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, orders, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
E-file documents through the Texas eFile system
Maintain attorney and case calendars, track deadlines, coordinate hearings, mediations, depositions, court appearances, client meetings, and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements
Independently prioritize assignments and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment
Manage correspondence and communications with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and third parties
Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including exhibits, binders, witness materials, and pretrial submissions
Provide litigation support in family law, CPS/child welfare, juvenile defense, and appellate matters
Maintain and organize electronic case files in M-Files and physical case files in accordance with firm procedures
Perform general administrative support and case management as needed

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
