7+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience, including workers’ compensation, with increasing responsibility.
1–2 years of leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred.
CPCU preferred.

About the Job

Title: Underwriting Technical Manager - Workers' Compensation (Remote)
Salary: $138K midpoint based on experience
Term: Direct hire
Location: Remote
Hours: M-F
Earn a $500 referral bonus once your referral completes 90 billable days

Are you a strategic, technically skilled underwriting professional who loves building high performing processes, mentoring others, and shaping the future of underwriting operations. Our client is seeking a collaborative and forward- Thinking Underwriting Technical Manager to join our team.

In this role, you will blend deep underwriting subject matter expertise with operational leadership—designing and maintaining systems, ensuring compliance, optimizing workflows, and strengthening underwriting quality across the organization. You’ll lead critical initiatives, champion continuous improvement, and serve as a trusted partner to underwriting, IT, compliance, actuarial, and external stakeholders.

Pay: From $138,000.00 per year

Describe your hands-on experience applying NCCI (or other bureau) rules/forms in underwriting decisions. Provide one example where a rule/form interpretation impacted acceptability, pricing, or coverage language.
Give one example of an underwriting guideline decision you made for an underwriting book that resulted in a meaningful positive change.
Have you led or directly supported rate/rule filings or bureau-related regulatory changes? (End-to-end, supported portions: documentation/review/implementation, no)
Describe any underwriting Quality Assurance (QA) program you have built, managed, or significantly improved.
Give one example of a process or underwriting system improvement you led with IT (or a system support team).
How many years have you led people (direct and/or indirect leadership), and what have you done to develop technical capability in others?
How many years of commercial lines underwriting experience do you have, and how many of those years are specifically in Workers’ Compensation underwriting?
