Lead O&M and Commissioning Technician
Description:
The Lead O&M and Commissioning Technician will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, commissioning, and closeout of commercial-scale solar systems, while supervising and training tech levels 1 and 2. Core scopes include preventative and corrective maintenance, commissioning procedures (pre- and post-energization), performing punch list walks, and compiling detailed reports of work performed. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and troubleshooting ability to ensure systems are safely and effectively brought online and maintained throughout their lifespan / contract timelines.
When not performing O&M or commissioning duties, this role will lead the special projects team on warranty and repower scopes and support the construction teams on EPC projects.

Main Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective service visits to ensure systems are performing safely and effectively
- Perform third-party and internal EPC commissioning scopes, including standardized pre- and post-energization procedures
- Conduct punch list walks in coordination with the QA/QC team
- Compile detailed reports for all scopes of work performed and submit them to the management team / clients in a timely manner
- Train apprentice-level technicians in the safe and effective execution of all responsibilities within this role
Other Responsibilities:
- Review SEL recloser relay control files with the engineering team to ensure proper operation per asset owners requests
- Coordinate with utility, asset owner, and management teams for energization, facilitate witness tests, and prepare for capacity testing once PTO is given
- Cold commissioning tasks include: IV curve tracing, DC VOC testing, inverter programing and communication testing, DAS / SCADA / MET station programming and communication testing
- Hot commissioning tasks include: AC voltage verification, RGM value verification, IR imaging, tracker commissioning
- Working with the operations/ special projects teams as team lead on warranty and repower projects as needed
- Assisting the EPC teams with any additional construction, installation, testing, and inspections as needed
Requirements:
- 4+ years of field experience with commercial solar O&M and commissioning
- 1+ years of experience using Procore
- Commissioning and Troubleshooting experience of all major DAS/ SCADA, MET station, and UPS components o Commissioning and troubleshooting experience of inverters and single axis tracking systems
- Commissioning and troubleshooting experience of SEL relays
- Experience using hand and power tools and equipment
- Valid state issued journeyman electrician license or equivalent
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record
- OSHA 30
- NFPA 70E
- Proficiency in using test equipment
- In-depth knowledge of PV system components
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, single-line diagrams, construction drawings, and technical manuals

- 100% travel requirements to travel from project to project for extended durations

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
