Position Summary

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing Montessori classroom where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Your role is essential in supporting children's academic, social, and emotional development while helping maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and Montessori lessons
Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
Encourage children's independence while providing appropriate guidance and support
Build meaningful relationships with children, families, and coworkers
Observe and document children's progress
Help prepare and maintain an organized classroom environment
Monitor daily attendance and classroom routines
Communicate professionally with families and staff
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and school events
Maintain confidentiality of student and school information
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
At least 18 years of age
Fluent in English
Ability to pass all required federal and state background checks
Reliable transportation to McLean, VA

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of experience working with young children
CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Montessori experience is a plus, but not required
Strong communication and organizational skills
Dependable, patient, nurturing, collaborative, and proactive
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Professional, team-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional care for young children
