Full Job Description

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking an experienced Technology Services Manager to lead our Service Department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily service operations, managing field technicians and support staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, AV, security, or telecommunications and enjoys leading teams while managing multiple service projects from customer request through project closeout.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, coach, and develop the Service Coordinator and Service Technicians.
Establish daily priorities, schedules, and performance expectations.
Conduct technician check-ins and provide ongoing coaching and support.
Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, quality, and safety.
Partner with Operations leadership on staffing, scheduling, and resource planning.

Customer Service & Account Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for service customers.
Respond promptly to service requests and maintain proactive communication.
Conduct customer site visits and evaluate service requirements.
Prepare estimates and coordinate customer approvals.
Build strong customer relationships that generate repeat business.

Service Operations

Schedule technicians based on priorities, workload, and customer commitments.
Coordinate materials, equipment, and labor to ensure efficient project execution.
Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed.
Ensure technicians have complete work orders, documentation, and job information.
Oversee service ticket completion and job documentation.

Project & Technical Coordination

Perform site surveys and evaluate project scope.
Prepare estimates for service work and small projects.
Review construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and project documentation.
Coordinate with Purchasing and Warehouse teams on material procurement and delivery.
Support structured cabling, fiber optic, security, audiovisual, and other low-voltage service projects.

Financial & Administrative Management

Monitor labor productivity and project profitability.
Review completed service tickets for billing accuracy.
Initiate timely invoicing and support collections when necessary.
Manage inventory accuracy, service vehicle stock, and material accountability.
Ensure project documentation and closeout packages are complete.

Safety & Quality

Promote safe work practices and OSHA compliance.
Conduct jobsite visits to ensure quality workmanship.
Verify customer requirements and company standards are met.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

Required

5+ years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, AV, security, electrical, or related construction services.
Previous experience leading field technicians, service teams, or project operations.
Strong knowledge of structured cabling, AV, security, fiber optic, or low-voltage infrastructure.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
Experience preparing estimates, coordinating schedules, and managing customer relationships.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn ERP or service management software.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer locations and job sites.

Preferred

Experience with BICSI standards and low-voltage industry best practices.
Industry certifications such as BICSI, OSHA, manufacturer certifications, or project management credentials.
Experience with job costing, inventory management, billing, and project closeout documentation.
Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, audiovisual systems, and data networks.

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel frequently to customer sites and active construction projects.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in active jobsite environments.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
