What We Provide for Families
Established in 2010 in Stamford, SJPC is a nonsectarian community resource center for parents. SJPC offers parenting education programs for mothers and fathers, a robust fatherhood initiative, individualized case management, resource navigation, and supportive services designed to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.
SJPC serves parents of children from birth through age twelve by providing the knowledge, skills, support, and resources needed to build healthy families and create positive outcomes for children. Through parenting education, case management, and community connections, SJPC helps parents develop healthier parenting practices, strengthen protective factors, and break intergenerational cycles of adversity.
SJPC currently operates centers in Stamford, Danbury, and Bridgeport and serves hundreds of families annually across Fairfield County.
Summary
The Stamford Center Director serves as the senior leader of Saint Joseph Parenting Center’s Stamford operations, providing strategic leadership, staff supervision, community engagement, and operational oversight. The Center Director is responsible for ensuring exceptional program quality, fostering community partnerships, supporting organizational growth, and advancing SJPC’s mission throughout Stamford and the surrounding communities.
As a member of the leadership team, the Stamford Center Director serves as the primary external representative of SJPC in the Stamford community and is responsible for ensuring high-quality program delivery, staff development, operational excellence, and achievement of program outcomes.
The Stamford Center Director reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
The Stamford Center Director is responsible for the operational success of all Stamford-based programs, ensuring seamless program delivery, strong community partnerships, effective staff management, quality assurance, and achievement of organizational outcomes.
Leadership & Management
1. Assist the Executive Director in implementing SJPC’s strategic plan and expanding support to families throughout the Stamford community.
2. Support the Executive Director in developing and improving programs, volunteer engagement strategies, center operations, and organizational policies authorized by the Board of Directors.
3. Partner with the Lead Case Manager to ensure high-quality case management services, adherence to program standards, achievement of program outcomes, and compliance with documentation and reporting requirements.
4. Track progress and regularly evaluate program components to measure success and communicate impact to leadership, funders, and community stakeholders.
5. Monitor enrollment, attendance, retention, and completion rates and implement strategies to achieve annual program goals.
6. Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to identify volunteer needs, cultivate community partnerships, and support volunteer recruitment efforts for Stamford programs.
7. Ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into program operations and aligned with organizational goals.
8. Foster a positive, inclusive, multicultural workplace that attracts, develops, and retains high-quality staff and volunteers.
9. Identify staff training and professional development needs and support continuous improvement efforts.
10. Monitor program outcomes, participant engagement, service benchmarks, and program quality indicators. Develop and implement improvement plans when performance targets are not being met.
Operations
1. Oversee the daily operations of the Stamford Center and ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for staff, volunteers, and participants.
2. Maintain responsibility for facility management, office operations, and program logistics.
3. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise Stamford personnel in collaboration with the Executive Director and Human Resources.
4. Conduct regular staff supervision, performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development planning for direct reports.
5. Ensure accurate documentation, data collection, and reporting for program outcomes and compliance requirements.
6. Monitor monthly and annual program performance metrics and utilize data to improve service delivery.
7. Coordinate program schedules, volunteer utilization, facility needs, and participant services.
8. Ensure organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols are consistently followed.
9. Support organizational initiatives that promote consistency and collaboration across SJPC’s Stamford, Danbury, and Bridgeport locations.
10. Maintain a flexible schedule to support program operations. This position requires regular on-site presence during Stamford parenting classes held Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, as well as periodic Tuesday evening programming during spring and fall sessions. Occasional attendance at community meetings, outreach events, and fundraisers may also be required.
Community Engagement, Fundraising & Communications
1. Serve as SJPC’s primary Stamford spokesperson with community collaboratives, elected officials, schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, and other stakeholders.
2. Represent SJPC’s mission and values while building strong relationships throughout the community.
3. Develop and maintain referral partnerships to support participant enrollment, program growth, and community awareness.
4. Establish and maintain partnerships that support volunteer engagement, resource development, and collaborative service delivery.
5. Collaborate with the Development Department to support fundraising efforts, donor stewardship, grant reporting, and community engagement activities.
6. Assist with securing in-kind donations, volunteer partnerships, and community support for Stamford programs.
7. Participate in community events, presentations, networking opportunities, and outreach efforts that increase awareness of SJPC’s services.
8. Support program storytelling and impact reporting to demonstrate outcomes to funders, donors, and community partners.
Budget & Finance
1. Work closely with the Executive Director and Finance Director to establish financial priorities and ensure efficient use of resources.
2. Monitor Stamford program budgets and maintain financial accountability.
3. Assist with grant implementation and ensure expenditures align with funding requirements.
4. Support budget planning, forecasting, and resource allocation decisions.
Professional Qualifications
The Stamford Center Director must be deeply committed to SJPC’s mission and demonstrate strong leadership, relationship-building, and management skills.
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Education, or a related field required.
· Master’s degree preferred.
· Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, human services, education, family services, or community-based organizations.
· At least three years of staff supervision and program management experience preferred.
· Experience managing multiple priorities, staff, and community partnerships in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience working within trauma-informed, family-centered, or community-based service environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Strong understanding of program evaluation, performance metrics, and continuous quality improvement.
· Experience building community partnerships and engaging volunteers.
· Knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and grant compliance within the nonprofit sector preferred.
· Ability to communicate a compelling vision to staff, volunteers, community partners, donors, and stakeholders.
· Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build collaborative partnerships.
· Transparent, mission-driven, self-directed leader with high integrity.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Success in This Role
Success in this role is measured by participant enrollment and retention, achievement of program outcomes, staff engagement and development, community partnerships, volunteer involvement, compliance with grant requirements, and the overall operational excellence of the Stamford Center.
Travel between SJPC locations may be required periodically. Approximately 25% local travel is expected. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with organizational policy.
