East Coast Capital is seeking a motivated Level 1 IT Support Specialist to join our IT team. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who wants to gain practical experience in technical support, systems administration, cloud services, networking, and cybersecurity. The Level 1 IT Support Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for internal technology requests, assist employees with day-to-day technical issues, and contribute to IT projects. The successful candidate will work closely with and receive direct mentorship from the Senior IT Specialist. This is a full-time, onsite position at East Coast Capital’s headquarters in Melville, New York.
Standard hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
On call coverage is not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal technical questions, incidents, and service requests.
- Monitor and respond to requests through the company’s ticketing system. Troubleshoot common computer, software, email, printer, phone, mobile-device, account-access, and connectivity issues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
- Document user communications, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions within the appropriate support ticket.
- Prepare, configure, deploy, maintain, and decommission computers, mobile devices, workstations, and peripheral equipment.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including account administration, application access, licensing, equipment preparation, and equipment recovery.
- Maintain accurate records of company hardware, software, licenses, and other technology assets.
- Assist with authorized user-account, access, and permissions management.
- Review suspicious email reports and security notifications according to established procedures.
- Follow company requirements for cybersecurity, confidentiality, data protection, and acceptable technology use.
- Assist the Senior IT Specialist with technology projects, system improvements, equipment deployments, and general IT operations.
- Escalate complex, unresolved, security-related, or business-impacting issues according to established procedures.
- Communicate with approved technology vendors and service providers when directed by the Senior IT Specialist.
- Contribute to internal IT documentation, support procedures, and knowledge resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- At least one year of relevant hands-on IT experience. Employment, internships, academic assignments, home labs, and personal technical projects may be considered.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook.
- Ability to troubleshoot common computer hardware, software, user-account, printer, and connectivity issues.
- Basic understanding of networking and information-security concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, patient, and empathetic approach to assisting individuals with different levels of technical knowledge.
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused during challenging support interactions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to complete, accurate documentation.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, follow established procedures, and accept constructive feedback.
- Ability to handle confidential business, employee, and client information responsibly.
- Familiarity with directory services, identity management, or user-account administration.
- Exposure to cloud-based business and productivity platforms.
- Familiarity with endpoint management or endpoint security solutions.
- Basic knowledge of network infrastructure, firewalls, switching, or wireless technologies.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, phishing detection, access controls, and incident escalation.
- Experience using a help desk or ticket-management platform.
- Experience supporting applications used in the mortgage or financial-services industry.
