Job Title: Part-Time Server Location: Oak + Violet, Menlo Park, CA

About Oak + Violet

Located inside the Park James Hotel in Menlo Park, Oak + Violet is a vibrant Californian restaurant where elevated hospitality meets innovative cuisine. In partnership with Michelin-starred Chef Joseph Humphry, our menu highlights refined flavors, seasonal ingredients, and a dedication to exceptional dining. We pride ourselves on creating memorable guest experiences through genuine, polished service.

Position Summary

We are seeking a professional Server with at least 2 years of experience in an upscale or fine dining environment. The ideal candidate is warm, polished, highly adaptable, and passionate about hospitality. This position requires a team-oriented individual who can confidently pivot between restaurant service and banquet events while maintaining consistency, grace, and attention to detail in both settings.

Our Server will play an important role in delivering an elevated guest experience whether serving à la carte guests in the dining room or supporting private events and banquets. The right candidate is eager to grow with the restaurant, works well under pressure, communicates effectively with the team, and takes pride in anticipating guest needs while upholding the highest standards of service. Must have open availability.

Key Responsibilities

● Provide warm, professional, and knowledgeable service to guests in the restaurant and banquet settings

● Execute all steps of service with consistency, timing, and attention to detail

● Maintain thorough knowledge of food menus, cocktail offerings, wine lists, and daily specials

● Guide guests through the menu and make thoughtful recommendations based on their preferences

● Accurately take orders, enter them into the POS system, and ensure proper coursing and timing

● Work collaboratively with managers, bartenders, hosts, culinary team members, and support staff to create a seamless service experience

● Set up, maintain, and break down banquet and private dining events according to service standards

● Adapt service style as needed depending on restaurant flow, event format, and guest expectations

● Assist with side work, opening duties, closing duties, polishing, and maintaining cleanliness of service stations and dining areas

● Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly and graciously to requests or concerns

● Support the team wherever needed and contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented work environment

● Follow all safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and company policies and procedures

Qualifications

● Minimum 2 years of serving experience in an upscale, fine dining, luxury hotel, or banquet environment

● Strong food, wine, and beverage knowledge, or a genuine willingness to learn quickly

● Ability to provide polished, attentive, and personable service in both restaurant and event settings

● Positive attitude with a strong team-first mentality

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient in a high-volume environment

● Professional appearance and demeanor

● Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

● Previous luxury hotel or Michelin-level service experience

● Banquet or private event service experience

● Familiarity with Toast or similar POS systems

● Wine and cocktail knowledge with a passion for hospitality and guest engagement
